Someone at the lhs told me to cut the ends of some 1500 mah and combine them to create a higher voltage battery. Can anyone please explain. Im trying to attach them to my starter.

If it is a 12v starter, typically you use two 7.2v batteries wired in series, giving you 14.4v. Take one positive from one battery wire it to the negative off the other battery, this leaves you one + from one batt, and a - from the other. Connect these two to your starter wires ensuring that your starter turns the correct way to start your helo. If not just switch them. Zip tie the batteries to your starter or purchase a battery holder to do the job, but zip ties work fine. When you charge the batteries you will need to charge them individually no while they are wired together. Hope this helps.
