the tail on my gasser upon entering hover, begins wagging and then it just swings left and wont stop. i have checked and rechecked everything, gyro settings and even servo direction. upon entering hover sometimes it will hold for a few seconds but it then swings to left and wont stop unless i land. any ideas? i was using the 401 and took it off, i replaced with the logictech 6100t/servo combo and does same thing.

Make sure that you are not to rich on the needle setting causeing excess engine torque vibing and also try a higher torque servo as I have read that the 9254 is to low on gassers and will get hot and stall out , reset the gyro causing your left lock out .

its definetly engine tuning. I have a very tiny drift, a pulsating drift which reflects the engine is not as smooth as it should be in a hover. I am going to get a new spark plug for mine, I may go with a hotter plug. I don't know how old my plug is. I can tune my engine so it sputters by riching it up, the tail drifts more with that setting. I can tune it so its very smooth but pulsation drift is still there but very little. I don't want to lean it out any more. Therefore I am going to try a hotter plug so I can richen it back up a little.

HFR, what servo do you suggest? The 9254 has 47 oz of torgue, how much more do you think we need?

I fly a bergen EB with a 401/9254 servo and it is fine. While the engine may be rich, you really need to make sure the tail is first adjusted correctly by going into a hover and turning off heading hold. See if the tail drifts. If it does, adjust the tail arms NOT the pushrod until you get it to stay put. Then after you have that set up see how it works in HH. Another thing to do is junk the Futaba tape and use the green zeal tape. This made an enormous difference and my tail holds solid.

Here is a link for the tape. Chris put this on my machine when he helped me set it up and it was the difference betwen a tail that held and one that drifted constantly.
