| I agree 100% with all the positive comments. When I call, I talk directly to Larry Bergen THE owner/designer of their helicopters, and THAT's great. Xcell is great, but you just can't talk to the designer any old time. Larry even LIKES talking to customers... we have had several 1 hr conversations, and they were NOT about any problems, but just chatting. I was impressed that he got me some parts for a frame set for the Xcell that they made a decade ago. He has all of the old Xcell parts in stock. IF he doesn't have something, then he will MAKE it for you, and that's service.
I talked to him about a CCPM version. He is right: they do have the best mechanical system there is, and this is for many reasons. But, I did let him know some comments by 3D flyers, and he did listen. It's not that they should change it, but I think I want to see a Bergen CCPM design. If Bergen could make THEIR version of CCPM and it would be THE CCPM that others will be judged by. And, a Bergen CCPM heli would be great with the extra power of 3 servos on collective. The reason to go to CCPM is not just to get on the bandwagon, but rather to go with 3D flyers. For 3D, CCPM is THE way to do it. In normal flying you don't need the collecive power as much, but for 3D, it really helps.
Their new industrial machine prototype has a 4 servo CCPM. Bergen puts high emphasis on redundancy, especially in the industrial helis. Pull one ball link and the heli will still fly fine, even that 4 servo ccpm.
Bergen: PLEASE try a CCPM design. Don't copy any other design at all, but a Bergen design. I think you could make the BEST system there is. IF you do CCPM like you did your other systems, then it will be THE system. You WILL sell more helicopters with it, I guarentee. |
