Nice!

I am working to convert one of my shuttles also. Can't decide on which motor? Tango 45-06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 13 or Hacker C50-20xl or 21xl??? Why did you pick the Tango 45-06?

Hi I'm starting to convert my Shuttle RG,

I see most people use the 45-08 800rpm/v which would give about 1650-1700 head speed, doesnt the 45-06 do 650rpm/v so is the head speed a little low? about 1300?

I only ask as I am looking at motor/battery combos to give me about 1550-1600 under load

Hey Cliff,

I finally decided on the 45-08 Tango for my ZXX. It gives me 1500 to 1800rpm depending on what I want to do and runs great. I have about 100 flights on it now without a problem.

I also have two RG's that I am converting and have a 45-10 to try out in one of those. Being that they are a little bit heavier and have all metal heads, I thought I would try the 45-10. From a preliminary run in the ZXX, the 45-10 was capable of 2350rpm!. A little scary for the plastic head. Looks like it will want to run between 1800 and 1900rpm. I am finishing setting up one of the RG's and hope to fly it this weekend.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Clark

Good info CSC! I've got an RG that I'm putting into a Funkey A109 and have a choice of either a 45-08 or 45-10. I too would like to hear about the differences between the motors after you've flown it.

FB

I meant to do that!

I have the Shuttle RG so I am looking at the 45-10 now, did anyone have any feed back on this motor yet?

Doesnt the 550e motor have quite a high KV?

I did look at the raptor motors...So many different ones to choose from

the 550e motor is 1050 kv
on 6 cell it would give 2422 rpm head speed with no losses
(22.2v x 1050kv /9.625:1 gear ratio)
i'm estimating about 20% losses will give a head speed of about 1937 rpm

Would the TT2380 motor not be better? 770KV, I would guess at about 80% efficiency you'd get 1500 head speed, I think most people are running 800kv motors..

I'd be interested to know how yours runs in that config, I have the RG with metal head, and run it at about 1700...

Still not decided on a motor

the dia of the TT2380 is to big for my mount
i will be running it at 80% throttle most of the time so the head speed will be around 1700/1800 rpm
and i'm using a full metal head so i hope not to have any problems with it running to fast

with a first test flight I'm running 1800rpm on the head , with a 12 minute flight time with a little in reserve
power is great , it out performs any shuttle i've seen, the climb out is better than any 60 sized heli i've seen but not quite up to 90 size heli
i've just got a small vibration to sort out and to trim it out as today it was very windy so the model was trimmed to suit the conditions

infanterene,

Sorry for the delayed response, but I had back surgery in late Dec. and am now just starting to get out of bed. Anyway, I'll post up some pics of the RG's as soon as I can.
