The weather is awful Yes the weather is #$@%@ and the only way to get stick time in is to take it when you can, even if that means having to sneak away from work mid week. Last Thursday on my field looked like any normal Summer Sunday afternoon with so many fliers.
Anyway the good news is we have a couple of great events coming up and hopefully some of you with direct links to these heli gods can put in a good word weather wise for us. I know some of you are well connected to higher authorities, I have seen you fly, so please put in good word in for some sun.
Tuakau Sunday Heli Collective – 20th July There is a Funfly organised at the Tuakau field, this field is 5 minutes from Tuakau and is beside the Rugby League grounds with tar seal parking so you won’t need to waste fuel bringing the 4 Wheel drive Hummer.
Everyone welcome, plenty of space for beginners to hover around.
BBQ Lunch, small landing fee as usual.

Rotorua Scale & FF Helifest Weekend 23/24 August Rotorua is again hosting another awesome heli weekend. These weekends are very popular and always attract a good crowd.
So buddy up with a mate and save gas, bring along your Pod & Booms and if you have a nice scale machine chuck that in the boot too (Hmmm mine is still in it's box)
I am informed there are prizes being supplied by the following sponsors for the scale comp. RC Bandit, Hobby Hanger and Anything Scale (Thanks Sponsors)
Again everyone welcome, plenty of space for beginners to practise and lots of people willing To help with their technique and setting up their machines etc
BBQ Lunch both days, small landing fee all as usual. Saturday night we will find a nice warm Restaurant and sit around telling tall stories about that Heli that got away.
If you are interested in night flying contact Wayne ASAP so he organise if there is enough interest. Email: wayneandjulie@xtra.co.nz

Waitangi Heli Rumble 2009 6-8th Feb2009 Make sure you have these three day marked with the wife, partner or boss at work as your "Business Time". Like previous events we have had including Curtis Youngblood, Jason Krause & Alan Szabo, we are pleased to announce this is another International star studded event.
We have now honoured to have Bobby Watts (USA) agree to come to this event.
Over the next few months, there will be more announcements about location, other overseas guests and how to pre Register etc
This will be the RC event of year for 2009 and we expect a huge turnout of fliers and sponsors to get behind this event and make it a great success. People are still talking about the success we had with the Jason and Alan several years ago. Be assured this will be bigger and better.
Heli Sig Meeting Two Weeks Ago Several weeks ago your Heli Sig Commitee had a 5 hour meeting to discuss the state of model heli flying in NZ. We accessed the Heli Survey results (thanks to all those that filled in the survey)
I am happy to say that things all look positive and hopefully by the time you read this the full Committe minutes will be available on the website. |
