when i totally figure the stylus

Tell you what, CamT, I have to admit that the learning curve on this Stylus has been somewhat steep for me. It's not difficult to understand what it's capable of, but absorbing the terms and abbreviations thoroughly enough to quickly translate what I want my birds to do from inside my noggin to the tx has been more puzzling than I thought it would be.

Could be the advancing years, or maybe I need to drink more coffee, or maybe it's because this is only my 2nd tx. The first (a Futaba 7C) was a breeze to learn but it was quite slow, and can't do half what a Stylus can.

I've got a better handle on it now and you will too eventually, probably much faster than I did. My birds all do what I tell 'em to now so I guess I'm past the steepest part of the curve.

The Stylus has a feature just for setting the speed of the elevator servo in a CCPM setup. I'll have to check my manual (it is in the manual!).

You simply play with the collective, running it up and down as fast as possible and increment this menu item until the swashplate rises and falls symmetrically.

The Stylus makes an excellent CCPM radio that only now is being equalled by other high end radios.

I hope Sanwa in Japan have an update on the books. Keep the programmable cards or use flash memory and a PC for software updates. A bigger screen, smoother surfaces, spread spectrum and 10 channels.

They will need to do this if they are to remain in the business (at least the aviation side).

Let's hope it isn't too long to wait.

Chris.

They're entering the 2.4 gHz market with surface radios -- aircraft won't be far behind.

You can assign any switch to be a throttle cut switch -- the momentary one would be good -- but since it's got analog trims I just use the throttle trim to kill the engine.

The throttle channel endpoints have to be set up so that bottom trim just barely closes the throttle for this to work without servo binding. Also, you can adjust the amount of throttle trim you have while in Throttle Hold separately from the non-Hold trim.

Throttle cut isn't necessary when you have traditional trims like the Stylus has.

The spring loaded toggle is much more useful for other things rather than burning a mix to kill the throttle.

An Airtronics-brand 2.4 gHz module for the Stylus is apparently in the works.

Long Live The Stylus, still the fastest stick-to-servo tx on the market.

From the www.Airtronics.net website FAQ:

Quote
Are there any plans to introduce a new high end radio? If not, are there any plans to upgrade the RD8000?

"Right now, we are testing aircraft 2.4GHz in the RD8000 platform. As soon as this is refined and ready for market we'll be looking at the following:

1. Finishing development on a 9-10 channel radio to replace the Stylus. More channels, easier programming, new ergonomics, 2.4GHz option.

2. Sometime after that, we'd like a more powerful sport radio like the RD8000 but with a little more power. The RD8000 is a great radio for some categories, thus the reason it is slated to be the first 2.4GHz Airtronics radio. But it is time for a sport radio that can handle a 6 servo wing, has sliders, etc... There's other little improvements that can be thrown in too when the time comes.

3. 2.4GHz module for Stylus. Just cuz' it's old doesn't mean people will stop using it. I'm still amazed at the wide-spread use of this famous computer radio.

4. After that, I'm guessing you'll continue to see wide-spread changes, upgrades, and innovation throughout the line. Sanwa Japan seems to have found new life and enthusiasm. The amount of new development is shocking!"
