GV-1 and 8Uhps, I'm stumped...Please help Posted 9-11-2001 19:10

Hi guys,

I'm baffeled by these instructions. First just trying to figure out where to plug the darn thing into the receiver is kicking my butt. I got the throttle leed but after that I'm a tad lost.

I have an 148DP Reciever. Which leed do I plug into which channel? Do I need a Y-adapter to plug this into my reciever and still have a spot for my battery?

Then on to set up, I want to control my GV-1 on / off by switching a seperate switch. Then my Norm at 1500 Idle ups to Idle 1 1650rpm (not sure about this one), then idle 2 to 1750.

FWIW, I have the gear ratio, lmt, and sensor settings all done. Just need to get through the above problems.

Now I have like the worst head acke too.

Thanks!

Hey Volkul, sorry for the slow reply. I don't know much about your radio (I fly JR) but here goes: Go to page 21. This is the most useful part of the manual (this is because it's a picture...not someone speaking Futaba-ese), now... plug your throttle servo into the governor and the throttle channal lead where your throttle servo used to be. Then plug the lead marked "Governor On/Off" whichever channal # switch you want to use to turn the gov. on/off. Next plug the "Speed Sensing Channel" into the channel on the receiver that you are going to use to switch between the 3 RPM levels, this can be a rotory knob or a 3 position switch). Now; go to the speed setting screen on the governor...move you speed switch or knob and watch the display change from s1 to s2 to s3...this is where you put in the desired M/R speed. switch to s1 and set your lowest speed, s2 to the next speed and s3 to the next. Making this setting change with your Idle-up switch is up to you...Futaba Radios give ME a headache. Next go to the SwPt screen...operate the switch you are using for governor on/off and make sure the display changes from on to off. Reverse the switch on the radio if you need the on/off positions reversed!!!. Go to the SWCd screen and check to make sure the governor switches on and off when you want it to...Now go to B/FD and pull the trim down to motor kill position and punch the Data+/- key to enable the on board failsafe settings. I also set my radio F/S settings to kill the motor and switch the Governor off (PCM). The last thing to check is that screen StSw is set to "inhibit". That should about do it...you can move the throttle stick to a point where the M/R RPM is 70% of whatever RPM you set the governor to run and flip your switch to turn the Governor on...no need to change and pitch or throttle curves in your radio...the governor doesn't "see" any throttle demands from the radio (throtttle, mixes, etc.) so you can tune the motor without the gov. and when it's set...a flick of the switch brings M/R RPM Nirvana...Sorry for the long post...Maxx

The latest

OK, I got everything plugged in and the Gov is working. However, it appears to work on the throttle percent scale instead of by switch. I got to figure that one out next.

go to the StSw screen and make it INH. This inhibits the stick position function. Maxx
