I'm having funnel problems with realflight (haven't tried them in real life yet), I can not keep the tail totally vertical and maintain a good looking funnel, any tips?

Basically enter backwards flight and then initiate a left or right turn in a circle and gradually get the tail so that it points in the middle of the circle all the way around and then steepen the angle of the heli. You need to get into it gradually to get the feeling of it.

I recommend to try tornadoes, then funnels, then when your really good, cyclones.
I can only do tornadoes but whos complaining. mw two cents

I believe that on the funnel you are actually turning the heli on a rol axis, but on a cyclone you go at you then out while the skids are towards you, i believe that the funnel you change angles. Icould be wrong though!!

OK, got it. Martin, thanks for your info, using the foiler makes this a lot easier than using the raptor, in the end it just took two more days of practice. I'm actually not sure if I wanted to learn funnels, tornadoes or cyclones as I don't know the difference. I went to Pete's realflight server and he stated I just needed to fly perfect circles and then make them steep, the rest comes naturally. He was correct, previously I was trying to do a funnel by trying to figure out set stick positions i.e. not flying the heli and reacting to what it did but move the this stick here & that one there. Once I started getting good at flying normal circles the tail control came naturally, just steepen up the circle and hey, one funnel. Now on to tail down.....

Same thing with tail down funnels. You should get good at backwards flight first and then the funnels come naturally.

Martin, I've always thought the same thing about the names of this manuever.
