I'am looking into getting into the micro electric helis. What would be the best cp model to get? The Hornet cp looks very good. Just need a little input on the best direction to go, and get started. Thanks.

Hello

First off, what type of flying do you plan on doing with it; is this your first heli?

Ok, for the Hornet there are some things I recommend that you get with it. Here is a list:

MS One Way with delrin main and conical tail drive gear
4x HS 50 servos
Futaba GY240
Berg Mini 5 Rx
Pixie 7P controller for the Speed 300
8 cell 700mah Power Ex

A good brushless setup is usually a good thing to look into but I would dump to much into the model until you find that you like it. Try the Speed 300 and it will give you a good impression of the Hornet. Just tack on more flight time to what you have experienced with the 300 and that is what you should expect with the Hacker/CC setup.

Hacker B20-22s motor
Castle Creations Phoinex 10 amp brushless controller

Just take you time and you should have a nice little heli.

Here is a nice example of this heli.

For very good general Hornet info check this site out(very complete and good advice)

Now Keep in mind that there is also the Ikaurs Piccolo Pro and it is another nice flying CP heli but with a motorized tail.

Here is a nice example of this heli.

Thanks Carlo,
I would like to do 3D flying with it, nothing to crazy. I've been flying helis for about 7 or more years now, currently I'am flying a Century Raven, I've owned just about every type of helicopter from gas to 30's and 60's. I don't have any electric experience, but I like the idea of the size and practicality of them.
Thanks for the info. and pictures, I'am located in Orlando.

Hello

If 3D is what you want you will have to dish out the $$$$$.

Walt, at the Hornet fourm, is the one to talk to; he is one with the Hornet and he can make it to amazing things like stationry flips.

Here is his profile over at the Hornet forum.

I highly recommend that you contact him and he will set you up with the good stuff.

All of the stuff he uses is avilable here

And to show you what he can do, here is a movie. Oh, keep in mind that his heli weights about 270+ grams all up and he has 11 volts(three 1020mah Kokam lithium polymer cells) powering his motor!!! That is a lot of beef for a light(this is the key, keeping the heli light) heli.

Thanks
After looking at all the micro's I think I'll go for the Hornet. I can see from the prices it's not cheap, but it looks like alot of fun to fly one. Helihobby has a Hornet cp combo would this be a good choice? I'll let you know how I'am doing. Thanks again for the info.
