Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > New Spektrum DX7 - What do you think??

Hi guys, here is a pic of the new Spektrum DX7 found on another website - it was shown at an event recently and it sounds like it will be unvieled in a couple of weeks. Full range 2.4Ghz for everyone - cool beans.....

One major concern - a lower end 7 channel radio as the only platform (not module based). I have a 9303 - one of the best radios out there for price/performance. I do welcome the new technology - BUT putting it in that 7 channel radio knocks many of us off the "to get" list.

Do any of you insiders know if there are any plans to make a module version in the near future?

Looks neat regardless, and I bet a 9 channel version based on the 9303 is forthcoming - BUT I would love a module version so I could keep the 9303 I already have

Am I alone in my thinking??

I totally agree with ya! BUT, Im sure JR has the 2.4 gig stuff coming as a Module upgrade just like the spectrum system for cars!

Modules

Maybe Horizon will see fit to make modules, but I wouldn't count on it. Modules are unnecessary with the SS technology since the system searches out it's own frequency and the concept of having different modules for different frequencies will soon become obsolete. Selling modules for the old style radios just takes away from sales for the new. Would be nice, but don't hold your breath. steve

Unfortunately Steve is probably right about the modules coming from JR or Futaba, but then there is the XtremeLink from Xtreme Power Systems. A module for our existing JR and Futaba radios. Hopefully this will be available soon.

I hope that they do produce modules, the spectrum specific radios I've seen up to date look like they came from Wal-Mart there cheap and crappy fealing, lol...

Who the hell makes the Spektrum anyway? Is it JR,,or Futaba or and partner of either or both,,and are the other guys ,,Airtronics,,Futaba and JR and HiTECH going to follow?

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

One thing they should have done was move the neckstrap hoop towards the bottom of the radio. Since there's no long antenna anymore, the balance is going to be off. If you look at the DX6, the hoop is aligned pretty much with the gimbal centerline. Otherwise, it looks great.

turbo, Spektrum is part of Horizon now. JR Propo make the body and main electronics, ship it to the US where the Spektrum crew install the RF section.

Thanks Mac Man. So its possible that Horizon will make RF sections to work on other JR radios with modules?

Likely the differences will be switch arrangements and the airplane version will have a notched throttle and the heli version will have a smooth throttle for more precision - Get the heli version.
