Hey there Ed. Are you suggesting I use only PCM despite the size/wt?

Still eager to hear rx recommendations for a Rex with a Stylus tx.

Anyone using the new Berg 7P?

I picked up a Berg 7P. I'll give it a squirt and see what happens.

Still interested in what folks are using for rx's on a Rex450se with a Stylus.

I am flying a Trex 450 SE with a Stylus and an Airtronics 92516Z 6ch Single conversion Rx. I got it on the recomendation of TMoore one of the top Stylus users on RR. He uses one in his 450SE and his Lepton.

My heli is rock solid and glitch free. I have flown it far enough away to scare the crap out of myself (A Trex can get REALLY small REALLY fast) and I still had perfect control.

FYI, if you are getting glitches with FM you will still be getting them with PCM. The PCM will just cover up minor ones by holding the last input position. On bigger losses of signal PCM will failsafe and you crash.

Glitches in PPM will cause the servos to jitter and you heli will twitch.

Big losses of signal dont happen unless your Tx batts dump or your Tx fails. If that happens you are going in no matter what Rx you use.

I am not a fan of PCM. But If I were to get a PCM Rx I would not put it in an electric bird smaller than a Swift or Trex 600. PCM Rx's just weigh too much to stuff into a Mini Heli.

Yup, I'm aware of TMoore's rep with the Stylus. Had someone like you not responded I'd've been up TM's tree via PM.

I've heard great things about this Berg 7P so I'll give it a try, but I'll get a 516Z as well just in case. I switched from a Futaba 7CHP to this Stylus for its low latency numbers, but I must say I never had a single lockout with a 7C/R146iP PCM combination, and like you I flew it far enough away to where orientation was a problem, with no rx difficulties at all.

Thanks for your reply.

Just to add to what Adrian said, the trick to making the little single conversion RX work on the TRex is to get ATX to shorten and retune the antenna. The ESC and the motor can make some really bad RFI and a really sensitive RX will pick it up. From what I've seen, the bulk of the RX's on the market are really too sensitive for electric use.

On the Lepton I tried the SC 92516 6 channel RX like I was using on the Rex and I found that it would glitch and I ended up tracking down just about all of the potential sources of the RFI and then installed an 8 channel PCM.

Thanks for the reply, TM.

Do the folks at Airtronics already know about this and about the proper length to modify to? I've got an order pending there in Anaheim already and I could have them add a modified 516Z to my shipment with a phone call.

Gimbal - They will know what to do. They do it all the time for heli guys. I had mine cut and retuned.

Terry - I just wanted to thank you again for all the help getting setup. I am hovering upright rock solid in all orientations and forward flight. I was doing loops, stall turns, axial rolls, stationsary flips and rolls today no sweat!

I am working on back wards flight and inverted hoving on the sim and I am close to trying it with the real thing.

this statement is BS! I use a JR 6102 FM radio system and have NEVER EVER experienced a glitch.

If you avoid failure, you also avoid success.

Basically ATX just cut the RX antenna to half of its normal length and retune the trimmer.

John at Peak Electronics and Bobby at Airtronics have hooked me up with two 92516Z's with the antenna mods and retunings done.

Thanks again for the help, Terry. You too Adrian. I be Stylin', boyz.
