Steve, if you're thinking of a Blade CX, have a look at the E-Sky Lama V3. ("Co-Co Lama" at Hobby-Lobby) The mechanics are about the same, and the parts are a lot cheaper.

I think any chopper with a separate motor for the tail is going to be squirrely.

Maybe the best would be a sim, then a contra-rotating one like the CX or Lama, then a proper CP machine.

I've come a long way myself, just with AeroFly Pro Deluxe sim.

A blade cx is ok,,but she will quicly outgrow it..Get something with a collective head on it...A blade cp is easy to learn on....Just get some training gear and let her spend some time on a simulator...

I say give her the Eco-8... Look at this way when she feels horrible about trashing it, you can get yourself a lot of nice upgrades

Definately not the Blade cp for a first heli. Much better choice would be the Blade CX. Ive had them both and flew the crap out of the cx for months. I went to the cp that I thought i was ready for and broke three sets of rotor blades before achieving 10 seconds of flight time. Alot of sim time later im almost at 30 flights without trashing my Cp. Good luck alot of us out here wish we had women interested in this wonderful hobby.
