Align T-REX 600N 700N > anyone get or see the TREX 450 size .15 nitro micro heli?

Hi all,
I was thinking about the possibility of having a micro heli run on nitro, and low and behold, I found one!

http://www.exceedrc.com/18h02.html

Is this incredibly new? I have never heard of such a thing, and it sounds like fun to play with. Apparently, you can switch the nitro out for a brushless motor very easily, on the same airframe. This sounds perfect for flying it indoors as well. I can't wait until they are available locally. I'd be one of the first in line to get it.

If anyone already has one, or this is pot roast, please let me know.

They have been around since the debut of the Rex450. So, nothing new.

I wouldnt waste a cent on a heli with a nitro engine that small. There are 2 potential problems with using such a small engine like this.

1. Cooling.
2. Constant speed of the engine.

Heli engines require extra cooling because for the most part the engine is stationary. Helis also require a nice constant engine speed to keep items such as the gyro working correctly. These small engines are just not made for helis.

The biggest thing is that they are gonna be under powered.

I would not describe that as a well powered heilcopter.

Don't let it stop you from buying one if you want. Just know that you won't be tic-tocing @ a 60 degree angle

Holding head speed should not be an issue if it is designed well.
I have no idea about cooling but my guess is running heli fuel should keep it cool... again if it is designed well.

its designed to run 20% and i consider it well powered considering the size also comparing it to a pegasus which was bigger yet couldnt do 3d. i think as a fun model you couldnt go far wrong it isnt ment to be a 90 beating heli!

All you that say it'd be underpowered must not have seen a T-Maxx in action. I don't much care fore R/C cars and truck as they are sort of boring to me, but they have LOTS of crazy power. I guarantee that if you stick an OS .18 Hyper in a 3 lb. heli and geared it for 30,000+ RPM (like a T-Maxx) it'll be way powerful fun.

If only I could find a 2-3 lb. heli built like a Raptor with same/less cost parts.

...yep...

I was checking the Black Hawk 500 GP Nitro spares parts cost and they look inexpensive.

Also, you can get this same Black Hawk 500 GP Nitro Heli for US$225.00 at www.raidentech.com intead of US$329.00 from www.exceedrc.com

The one from Raidentech does not come with engine but maybe with the $$$ diference you can get a better brand or more powerfull engine.

Hi, thanks for the replies.

Grant, which manufacturer started making these with the debut of the rex 450? when was the debut? Helicopter stuff moves so fast, it's hard for me to keep track.

I am deffinitely not looking for anything remotely close to a 3D heli. I cringe at 3D flying. That's not because I can't do some stuff, but it just makes me feel uneasy to see helicopters behave like that. I like scale, and nitro. Something this small, I wouldn't be as afraid of. I fly my raptor too far out, most of the time, because I am afraid I'll loose control and cut my arm off. with this little helicopter, I wouldn't be as afraid, and therefore would learn a lot faster. not having confidence is almost as dangerous as not having experience.

that was off point... anyhow... point is, if they have been out that long, why is this the only nitro micro I could find? you'd think someone else would jump in the market.

And to whomever asked about the engine... www.helihobby.com has this helicopter w/ engine ARF for $259.00 that is cheaper than a trex. I'd get a trex, but I just can't stand dealing with batteries all the time. I like putting go juice in something, and then flying it, refueling and flying more, uninterrupted. That's just me.

Thanks to all,

John

Hey for $259.00, this thing looks interesting

So John68, when you going to order yours? This way you can give us a full review/report.

Good luck,

Thanks, Isaac.

That is also why I wanted to see the manual. I am seriously considering this heli, after watching the video. It seems to have enough power to do what I want, and more importantly it is nitro, micro, and has a belt driven tail. Those are my requirements.

I am also trying to find a suitable Rx, and servos, so that when I do get the heli, I'll have something to put in it. It looks like the PCM micro 6 channel rx from Futaba will go nicely with my 9CHP radio. I'll need to use a Y harness to connect the battery, but that is a small price to pay for the smaller micro receiver.

Thanks again, I'll let you know when I order the heli. I'll post a build-up of it.

Hello John68, I hear that the Hitec servo HS-65HB are very good for this type of heli.....Maybe you can ask here in RR what servo people recomend you for this heli.

Be carefull selecting cheap/inexpensive servos because they do not center very well and in a CCPM heli servos centering correctly is a most!

Check http://www.rchover.com/inc/sdetail/37115 they have it for $25.95 and they say in there web that if you buy 3 or more servos you can save some money.........So check it out.

Hitec announces a new Micro class servo, the HS-65HB has long lasting and durable Karbonite gears and are Hitec's most powerful servo's in the micro class, with over 26oz/in of power at 6 volts. The HS-65HB was created for higher performance micro helicopters, electric park flyers, & 1/18 scale cars, and features a top ball-bearing for long life and positive centering

Good luck,

Isaac

Looks cool!

I have the Hitec 65-MG in my T-Rex and am very happy with them. I don't hink you can go wrong with the HB or MG. I would use them in this heli if I were to get one.

As for power the only questions you have to ask is, it is powerfull enough for what you want it to do and it sounds as it is. Good luck, keep us posted.

My Trex 450 1.5 Nitro

I'm now the proud owner of a T-rex 450 XL Nitro, and was hoping you could help me source some spares. 90% of the helicopter used standard T-rex parts, I'm however after the spares for the following:-

1) The blue anodised parts (between the side frames):-

a) Boom mount
b) Ball raced hex starter plate (two parts)
c) Main shaft ball raced plate (two parts)

2) I'm also seeking to source replacements for the anodised side frames

I've attached a number of photos which I *hope* helps you identify the anodised parts. (I suspect the parts are easily identifiable, as the parts are possibly taken from another Micro heli), however doing a few Google searches hasn't turned by many results. It appears the *only* Micro nitro helicopter on the market is the *Blackhawk*, however this is very different to the T-rex, the Blackhawk is available here :-

http://www.helihobby.com/html/black...itro_micro.html

If this is a Japanese import, if you could point me in the right direction of the distributor, any URL's or any contact details you could provide allowing me to follow up I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm currently finishing the build, mainly electrics, but *before* I fly it I'm keen to ensure I can easily get the *non standard* replacement parts, which is sensible move I'm sure you'd agree

Many thanks for your time, and Iook forward to hearing from you.
