e-HeliDirect HDX 300-600 > HDX head to swash slop (Fixed)

This HDX300 CNC head sure is smooth running and pretty, but it collective jumps all over the place. I have tried everything and can't find a cure. The two Bell system pushrods leave the swash and angle up to the mix arms. If you hold the head still you can rotate the swash nearly 15 degrees CW and CCW. That allows the blades to increase or decrease a couple of degrees all there own due to these two Bell system pushrods straightening up and angling back again. Now most of the larger helis I have dealt with had a swash follower that turned the swash with the shaft so it was captive under head and did not rely on the pushrods to drag it around. Isn't anybody having this problem? I have this installed on a BCP using the HDX shaft and gear and it is fantastically smooth but collective jumps are a nightmare. If I am doing something wrong with the set-up please advise. Everything is hooked up just like the pictures show and short of trying to come up with some kind of follower or guide arrangement this thing is too spooky to fly. I have to believe there is a quick fix and I have something obviously honked up installation-wize since I have not heard any grumblings pertaining to this issue on this head. Again, it's not the head that is sloppy, it is the linkage between the swash and head that is causing it, I think? Please help!!!!

Can you post a couple of pics so we can see what may be wrong?

Most definately! Will post some tomorrow as soon I get back to my shop. Thank you! By the way, I have tried to use the 'My Fast Photo' feature in this forum before but never had much luck. Is there an option I have to enable to get the photos included in this post, like Wide View or something?

Are your servos fine? Servos can cause the collective to jump all over the place which is pretty common with eflite servos. Also known as The "Yo-Yo" effect.

Figured it out...made a swash follower out of a brass collar and some music wire. Works great, no more slop between head and swash! Now I like this head again! Thanks anyway for your ideas!

Oh THAT slop. Alot of people have been wanting to make a device to eliminate that. You would be doing them a service if you posted pics and more info as to how you did it. I have that head and have not had any trouble with it.

OK, here are a couple of pics. This thing I call a swash follower, for the lack of a better term. It is just a collar fixed to shaft directly below the main hub clear of collective/cyclic movements that turns the swash rather than using the pushrods to drag it around as designed. A spring driver swivels in two holes drilled into the collar. It has taken all the lead/lag rotational slop out of the head to swash set-up. This is just a proof of concept job I threw together to see if it would work. Works better than I had hoped, so I will go ahead now and make another one using a brass collar instead of the aluminum and a little more precisely formed spring driver wire. This will keep the swash 90 degrees to the head and eliminate the rotational lead/lad inherent in the systems design. It also keeps the pushrod frames centered around the blade grips. The collective hops and weird cyclic ticks seem to be eliminated.
