Synergy R/C Synergy N9 > bevel gear mesh

I have got my Synergy basically together and have slid in the boom and its mounts and now when i rotate the head (which turns the main gear and the bevel gear) there is a really notchy feel eg, tight gear mesh !
but there is no adjustment for the gear to go downwards to releive this ?
and yes the gears and on top of each other.

any ideas anyone ?

other than that im not really impressed with the tail pitch slider where it goes in the arm its all sloppy !
as for the ball links my kit didnt have and "short ones" but thats easy to fix and the fan to fan shroud clearance is really close and took some triming of the mounts to get it to sit and not rub on the fan.

Leave it be it will bed in after a couple of flights its very smooth.

Thin CA applied to the pitch slider will improve the tail, if you don't it'll wag like a happy dog, apply a small amount at a time using a micro dropper and break the joint after 20 seconds it'll feel real tight but keep working it by hand then leave overnight, finally apply some WD40 and it'll be smooth as silk!

Mine was also you can reduce the mesh by pulling the boom back a little but if you can turn the tail shaft on the blade grip with your finger 3hp of glow engine will manage no probs, it will bed in.

If its loose there is a chance of stripping teeth of the crown gear.

did you push down on the mast before tightening up the 4 setscrews on the collar? i assume you didn't put a shim under the crown gear, if you did, take it out (obviously). hth.

yeh i did do that and the main shaft is in nicley and the bearing blocks cant be lowered (bottom one), im just not keen on having any notching meshing feeling just a smooth mesh is best.

i shall go back over it again for te third time, just so i know i havent made any mistakes

thanks Dale

Do you have the 106-120 shim under the
crown gear, if so remove it?

Also is the trans output ass. shoulder against the bearing block.
Mine went in this way with no notchyness and a slight backlash.

Hope this helps

Did you check the mesh of the main gear and pinion? If that is too tight it will cause the rotor head to feel tight. You shouldn't have to cut anything to prevent the fan shroud from rubbing the fan. The engine has to be placed into the right position. See http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t281846p1/

Check to see the crown gear hub is fully seated under the crown gear. Also, spin the crown gear assy on the main shaft (main shaft horizontal) and see if the gear surface wobbles. You can fix this by adjusting the tightness of the screws.

Do you have the 5mm spacer or the 7mm spacer in between the bearings in the tail rotor bell crank? Some kits came with the incorrect spacer so the simple fix is to swap it with the 5mm spacer in the Swashplate, under the anti rotation bearing, 109-357, page A17. Its ok to use the longer 7mm spacer under the anti rotation bearing.

I was able to loosen the boom clamps and the crown gear hub, push dwn on crown gear then tighten the hub in the lowest position, next pull up on the boom clamps and snug screws and check mesh, then tighten screws one at a time and you have it. 2-3 flights and your GOLDEN. That worked for me, I think it was design for bolt together and go fly, but we are to anal to do that.

ok i got home late again last ngiht and spend some time on the new machine i removed the til boom and reinstalled it and still have a notchy feel i have checked all things as per everyones advice.

i have cetainly reduced the amount of notchy gear mesh an i beleive this was my fault by having the boom in too far, this and with a few other things in the instructions i beleive are lacking in explaination, the instructions are a great exploded view of the parts but they do fail to explain a few small details at times.

i now have the electrics in it and hopefully by the weekend i will have it running

thanks for your help guys
