I'm not "defending" this kit (or any other product for that matter), simply stating my opinion as asked by the starter of this thread.
Sorry to bust your bubble here, but the first run of anything, especially in this hobby will present issues that the first round of customers have to deal with. Perhaps unfortunately your expectations were too high.
The issues I've had with my N9 are minor compared to the "usual" stuff - just a few examples from my recent experience...
- Ergo - shearing head axle
- Vigor - seizing swashplate, severe glitching (later fixed by adding grounding strap)
- R60 v1 - too many to list including brittle t/r gears would prob
- Fury Extreme - clutch driver problems, would seize and kill motor
- Ion-X - Early "G2 yellow stripe" TP batteries would spontaneously balloon $400 per pack
- JR 8411 - would spin the pinion off the motor when used in helis
- YS80 - would die in inverted idle
- YS91 - carb barrel problems, over-sized spring clips on wrist pin would get caught up btwn piston and liner destroying motor
- 14mz - touch screen defective, random elevator glitch
The N9 costs significantly less than some of the products above, performs well and has suffered no problems on the order of magnitude of the helis listed above so in my book it deserves credit. None of the bugs I've hit has prevented me from flying the heli or changed the way I fly the heli. It also outperforms what used to be my all time favorite 3D heli which I've flown flown for years, so of course I'm going to be happy with it - it serves it's purpose.
Now if this were a car, especially a high end car I've come to expect much WORSE - and to date have not been disappointed.
