hello.i want to purchess a micro heli and im not sure which one.
my qustion is, if i'll buy the eco piccolo and later replace the a engine to 400, the picoboard to a pro, the batteries to 600MAH and add a peach control machanisem, will it be axactly the same as the piccolo pro?

is the basic kit, accept the peach control machanisem (including the blades)the same?

and another thing, can the fun virsion be operated with a piccoboard pro?

thanx!

answer

Hi,
As the representative of Ikarus in Israel I have some knowledge to share with you.
Eco Piccolo Fun:
Arrives with 295 motor and with plastic bushings, instead of bearings. it also have a metal shafts.
The Picco board do't have the option for heading hold module and can accept only 7-8 cells battery.

Piccolo standard:
Arrives with 310 motor, metal bearings, carbon shafts (better).
piccoboard have the option for heading lock module.

both can accept the upgrade for collective pitch mechanism but in order to be able to do aerobatics you will need to replace the main motor to 410 or brushless and the Tail Rotor Motor to bigger one,
The original Tail Rotor Motor can't handle the added torque of the 410 or Brushless Motor.

Be aware that it will need extra Servo and need the 6th' channel on your receiver.
It will need also a Tail Boom Support (other wish it will get in to resonance Vibration at some point of head speed, especialy if you will not use 9 cells)
The Piccolo pro arrives with carbon fins you might want to add and cool looking canopy.
the piccolo pro came with the heading lock module and supports 9 cells.
the 410 Motor uses metal pinion gear as well.

You can use the piccoboard Pro with the Piccolo Fun.

My Opinion is that you should buy the fun version and when ready to progress, sell it and have new piccolo Pro.

Hello I am new to the group . I recently purchased and built an piccolo pro . I like it, and tried my Hornet CP blades .They work great. I had to modify the throttle and pitch curves slightly but they give me about the same flight time and are more durable than the woodies. As for 3D I have only done a loop with it and it was fine . I am not anaccomplished 3D flyer so don't know about other things. Hope this helps

thanks for the reply Bugflyer!

did the blades fit the blade grips ok or did you have to modify the blades to fit?

they are longer than stock piccolo blades, can they hit the TR?

thanks

I had to mill down the blades at the grip slightly so they would fit .It did not look to me like they would hit the tail rotor. I have put about 20 flights on it so far ,5 of them outside in forward flight with no problems. The only problem I have had with the heli is the tail motor frying. I am beginning to think anytime the tail rotor hits something it can fry the tail motor since this happened after i bumped the wall. The motor I have on it now seems to be holding up. I have a voyager E and 2 Hornets FP and really like the piccolo pro so far.

why is the TR frying?

do you have any experience with brushless motor setups and lith-poly bats?

I am trying to determine why it is cooking. I took one apart and found the brush assembly melted off. The new one I am experimenting with seems to be holding up. I think it mostly happens when something stops the tailrotor abruptly while power is applied. It may not be the motors fault. I will keep you posted. It flies great and I think its worth pursuing. It was the best heli right out of the box that i have built and flown so far
