Stacked!!!!

Typically the stacked frames are VERY strong compared to the regular FRP frames that are used... and most of the time, if you do break one you can replace only that part instead of the entire side frame.... of course that is if you can purchase the components as needed....
I really am waiting to see one of these show up locally so I can see it fly, but will most likely be the one that brings it in just to check it out!!!! It really does look like a clean little unit for our indoor arena this season!!!!

Problem is, no one has parts in the states for the mini zoom except hobby people and I don't think they have the pro parts. I have the same problem with my walkera 52 but now tower hobbies and horizon hobbies are carrying the same model by venom so I can actually get parts soon without paying ungodly amounts for shipping.

Parts Support

For now I will most likely wait until they show up in the states.... we have a LHS that usually carries all the most popular stuff and when I was flying the Shogun he always had the parts I needed... can't be too long till it gets here, maybe not the pro but I would try the standard unit.... the size is right for the arena we have....

Thanks for the info and if anyone is flying thiers I would like to hear comments, good or bad.....

Standard can only use one or two servos though. That is the problem.

Im sure it is not very stable ....If you can fly a rex or shogun well then you should be oky but if this is your 1st heli i think it may be tuff to learn on ....

ANY NEWS WHEN YET????????????????

Has anyone heard who and when this might become available in the states.....I am thinking about trying the standard.... I like to see how they work "out of the box" and then will add "bling" only if needed to make it function better.... and I can live with the servo "problem".... but this one has got me looking!!!!!

Thanks, Stan

I bought mine from fung at flying-hobby.com ready to fly combo.Got it charged up and took very little trimming.Have been hovering it in my living room.As for being stable. Its not that bad. With the high head speeed you have to get it up off the skids and into a hover.Or it will skate left on the skids from the blade force.
Awesome little heli with low crash cost.

The pro isn't much more money and can use many different servos. You will care about the servo problem when you bust a gear set and can't get any replacements.

Servo's

robl45
Will Futaba 3111's work OK, they are the same size as the 3108, just a little more power.... also they are Futaba and getting gears shouldn't be a problem, but I have never used these "little guys" before.... what do you think....
I really am not into all the carbon "stuff".... and I fly well enough so that I usually bring everything home in the same amount of pieces that I started with... and I much rather work with completely stock units so that I can see if the "hype" a product is given is true or not....

no, as far as I know, no servos will work in the original except the rc mart pino servos or something close to it and nothing is close to it that i know of sold here in the USA. Maybe some crap cheapo servos at some off the wall place but nothing from a major place.

Hobbypeople.net said they should be getting the Shogun Midget version sometime in November. Whether that remains true, I guess it depends on Global. I got mine from Helihobby, although they call it a Pixy Zap. As far as servos go, the only ones that will fit the original frame are the PINO servos from RCMart International. You can get them from Infinity-Hobby.com or Flying-hobby.com. If you want to fit other servos (slightly bigger ones) I think the CF frame will work. Also, the original comes with a brushed motor and I think the pro version comes with a brushless.

For those of you that do have this little thing, whats the headspeed i need for hovering. I just got the brushless motor, which has a 4800kv, and i've got a 11.1V 3cell pack. Is it a tad too much power? or can i get away with it by setting the throttle curve?

I’m thinking of getting one of the combo deals on the Mini ZapZoomShogun Pixie. They both claim to be the pro Pro Version. I still need to find out what other servos fit, but I think these are the ones that other servos will fit in.

EP100 Pro Light ZAP
http://www.flying-hobby.com/productShow.asp?id=1871

I believe the link below is the one robl45 referred to.

Mini Zoom Pro
http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/...products_id=605

I’m not sure which one comes with the better motor/esc/servos/gyro. But the first link above is $10 more but you get an 850mah 12C battery pack and aluminum carrying case also.

I’m thinking I can use my JR R610UL 6CH FM Shrinkwrap receiver; it should be small and light enough. I wish I could use the GY240 I have around but I think it’s probably too big.

Anybody had any experience with the MX306 Ball Bearing high Performance Servo(6.6g) that come with the Mini Zap (first link above). How about the ones that come with Mini Zoom Pro (second link)? I figure even if they suck I can replace them with JR/Futaba/Hitec servos.

Just Noticed...

I have been watching the mag's to see who is advertising this, but did check both links in the prior post and just noticed that the one in the links has a full metal head and the one in the mag's shows the standard FRP head...and Hobby People are listing 2 versions with and without mg servos, and a brushless motor, but no metal head... this may change my thoughts on the Pro.... (thanks CHOMP)
Anyone seen or flown one with the FRP head????

Thanks

I sent e-mails to both Flying Hobby (Zap) and Infinity Hobby (Zoom).

I asked Infinity Hobby about the gyro and servos. The servos are the PICO PRO 4.3g Servo. He said the gyro depends on what is in stock; either the NT-400 or Align RCE-500. Also, it does not come with a carrying case.

Flying Hobby did not indicate metal on the head on their site. I asked them about that. They claim that it is a metal head. I think the RCMart gyro is the same or similar to the NT-400 that comes with the package on Infinity Hobby

So, it looks like they both have metal heads. For $10 more you get a battery pack and carrying case from Flying Hobby.

I think the main difference is the servo:
Flying Hobby – 4 x MX306 BB high Performance Servo(6.6g)
Infinity Hobby – 4 x PICO PRO 4.3g Servo

Great Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing that...... I figured out early that you were the only one in the room, but gotta love that ending!!! (Still laughing)
Now to the good stuff!!!!! OK, what is your set up???? Give us some facts.... that little guy looks great... and it also looks as if it is the "stock" unit with the plastic head???? NICE JOB..... just what I was looking for... it looked really solid and that was pretty confined, and it did not look as if it were "blowing" around in it's own wash....
Thanks for sharing.....
So where else to you wear that hat!!!!

Hi Stan… many thanks for the compliments and I’m glad you got a laugh out of the Hat-Cam. As funny and simple as it is it sure works great though… doesn’t it?

I bought my first Mini Zoom(s) back in April and have recently bought 2 more Pro CF frames to upgrade . … as you can see I’m really committed to this cool little 3D machine.

What you see me flying in the Family Room vids is the original plastic frame version with an upgraded head (K&T aluminum swash & washout but mostly plastic yet) a CF tail boom and the K&T aluminum tail case. The K&T upgrades were the only aluminum parts that were available for the MiniZ (from Flying-Hobby.com) over the last few months till Gaui (the OEM) came out with their new Pro version. I also use a Hornet (MicroHeli) tail slider and hub along with a couple Hornet CF tail fins. My set-up also includes the Outrunner BL motor with Pino MG servos around the swash and a Futaba S3110 servo on the tail and the gyro is the RCmart NT400. I like to fly my MiniZ without any flybar weights… this gives me better/quicker response especially indoors where it’s really needed. I’m also using the foam sym-blades.

Sorry it took a while to respond but I wanted to add this new video that I just finished and it took me a while to edit & convert it for posting.

Enjoy… VIDEO once again... just right click on the link and "Save Target As" to download the vid.

No Problem.....

The info was worth the wait.... it looks like you really have this little guy dialed in.... do you have the overall pitch travel that is available??? And have you flown it outside or rolled or looped it as of yet??? Looking good, and the video's are getting better too....next there will be commercials and narration!!!!!
Nice job and thanks again.... Stan

Nice Video VW looks like you got that little heli dialled in well

Ive had enough of my pro version ! im no stranger to heli's but im unable to get this one off the floor.

Ive tried every thing , lowering pitch curves etc but it just dont have enough head speed.

heres the spec

EP100 Pro / Pixy Zap CNC Micro Helicopter 1
RC-expert Brushless Motor 3200KV (20-40) 1
7.4V Lithium Battery Charger 1
Futaba 6EXH 72mhz 1
7.4V 850mAh Lithium Battery 2
30A Brushless Motors Electronic Speed Controller (ESC-BS30A) 1
RC-expert 9g Servo 4
Aluminium Case 1

im thinking of making a 11.1 volt lipo out of the 2 7.4v batteries and adding a 4 cell balancing lead.

Also the linkages /balls and joints are very very poor , the joints are just so loose on the balls .
Around the head where possible ive fitted Trex se joints and balls which are alot bigger but fit the rod and are a good job.

On the tail the linkages kept falling off the tail blade holders , so with the joint clipped on to the balls I then melted a flat on each ball , which muchroomed the plastic which as stopped the joints falling off.

But it still will not take off help ????? does any one know if the extra volts will help ??

Cheers Steven
