After Market Accessories > Thundertiger header tank support??

I bought the TT header tank support, and it is not like the kind Heliproz sells where the bolt that holds it to the frame actually tightens down on the tank, preventing it from moving. The header tank support is non adjustable and the tank fits relatively loosely in the support, what do you guys do that use this support to secure the tank down better? Thanks, Daz...

Header tank

I just use the grommet underneath the bracket and the washer on top. I then lock tight the bolt in. Never had one come loose. Now they do move around a little but keep the bolt really tight, this will squeeze the grommet and limit the movement.

Thanks Alan but I'm not talking about the header tank support moving, actually its the header tank sliding forward and back in the support, is there a way to keep it from moving forward and back in the support? Daz...

I think TT had a shipment of tanks that came in that were not TT but Hayes tanks. The Hayes tank does not have the two bumps molded into th tank which the bracket goes in between. Maybe on the back side of the tank you could put double sided tape on each side of the tank doing the same purpose.

Actually I'm not using the TT tank, I'm using a Hayes header tank with no bump, thats the problem I will have to pick up one of those TT tanks with the bumps, I didnt know there was a differenceThanks, Daz...

Daz,

I've successfully used "Outdoor" GOOP on the tank; slide the tank out one "strap-width", GOOP around the tank, push it back in, wipe away what extrudes back.

It'll last about season.

Yes it does, in time...the Outdoor GOOP seems to be much more resilient than the others...Although (see my profile) I tend to clean up my ships......a bit more often than others might

goop

you might want to try shoe goo. i was having trouble keeping the header tank on my morris the knife. i used zap-a-dap-a-goo, normal rtv and a couple of others. the only one that would stand up to the fuel was the shoe goo.

dr. tim was advising me to use pfm for the installation of the woodwork in my scale bird. this apparently is resilient as well.

good luck.

Header Tank

I had the same problem with my header tank set up and this tip was given to me by some one here on RR

1. Remove tank
2. Cut two strips of Fine sand paper the same width as your tank brackets, about the length of the bracket insides.
3. epoxy these same strips to the front and rear part of the inside bracket. allow to dry
4. replace tank and no more worries

Mine has lasted months now and survied a few mishaps the tank hasnt moved at all

Hope this helps
