I have Augusto’s permission to post this information and pictures on online.
It is my pleasure to meet Alan and Danny Tonight, and have dinner with Augusto, his wife Maggie, Alan and Danny; it was great experience. I received many latest information on the Avant Aurora. There are many new features that they put into this machine. Thanks for Alan , Danny and rest of Team Avant. You guy did a great job to support AVANT.

The latest version of Aurora that I see today was amazing; it was different than Alan, and Danny fly in IRCHA.

This is what is new on Aurora,
1. New Damping system on programmer head. ( Danny said, even normal pilot can feel the different immediate)
2. Bigger hole for HD servo; (s9451)
3. Bigger hole for Main tank
4. New carbon plate for frame. (You can remove the main gear without unscrew any parts.
5. Extra carbon plate for canopy stand (if you crash helicopter, then you don’t need to replace whole frame.
6. Gyro’s mount with flat on top of frame.
7. there is no need to use a spacers for engine ( specially design for os 91 sz w/pump

BTW, this message is for people, who are interesting getting Aurora.
You will be very surprise when you amazing how simple to build this machine.
And how it smooth and fast when you fly it.. Just be Patience.

I wanted to thank the pilots that have given us their suggestions so far for the refinements. Additional pilots are going to be doing more pre-release testing next week.

1. New Damping system on programmable head.
Thanks to Paul Soha for his input for this system a few months ago.

2. Bigger hole for Aitronics metal cased servo
Thanks to Danny for that suggestion.

3. Bigger hole for Main tank
Thanks to Alan for that suggestion.

4. New carbon stiffener plates for frame. (You can remove the main gear without unscrew any parts.
Thanks to Danny for that idea.

5. Extra carbon plate for canopy stand (if you crash helicopter, then you don’t need to replace whole frame.
Thanks Elvis for the sacrificial canopy mount tabs idea. Genious!

6. Gyro’s mount with flat on top of frame.
Thanks Steven Gerrard and Chris Walton for the suggestion.

Thanks to all the pilots involved in the pre-release testing. We really appreciate your input and we are adding some of the additional refinements you guys are suggesting. This is why we wanted all kind of people to test them. You get a wide window of opinions from very different pilots that are very useful. Special thanks to Rob and Mike from TeamBob00 for their incredible feedback on getting the machines real solid. You guys are doing an amazing job in testing. Fastlad thanks for the meshing directions as well as yours and Steven Gerrard's hardcore testing.

Flight testing with this mods is going really good.
We'll post some videos of the flight testing later.

Bigger hole for HD servo; (s9451)

The S9451 is the same size as the rest of the Futaba digital series, why make a bigger hole? Just curious

It's not really the 9451 as Tony posted it's the airtronics that come with metal cases that need it.

Augusto

Oh ok, thanks Augusto! In your opinion, what would be the better servo for the Aurora: Futaba S9451, S9351 or Airtronics 94758? Also, why aren't the Szabos using hatori pipes anymore?

Thanks for your speedy replies!!

The 9351 servos are probably going to be the better choice. Danny is using 9451 in his setup. My experience is that the higher torqued servos end up being faster in real life.

No those are some beater canopies we use for testing.
You don't want to risk a Dave Yost Jewel when testing stuff.
Dave's canopies make the helis look so much better it's almost a sin

With the existing frames, the 9451's were also a tight fit so I am glad that the holes are now larger.

The Aurora flies better than any heli I have ever owned so you guys are going to be in for a real treat

Augusto....Help!

Augusto,

Some of us have never built a Nitro before. Could you please post a list of all the things you can think of that we will need to get this flying. Obvious things are engine, servos, gyro, exhaust. But what about parts that aren't obvious like header tanks, fuel line, errr....(see I can't think of anything else!)

What tools, recommended glues, greese, etc will we need?

What about a hex extension for the starter. Do we need to get a "one way"?

You get the idea...

I want to have everything before the heli is available so I can build it without having to stop to order things every step along the way. Every time I think I have everyhting I need, I find out that I need something else.

Thanks,

Enzo

p.s. Thsnks for being so amicable at IRCHA!

No offense but if this is your first nitro this will be way over your head. This is meant for people who have experience in set-up and flight. I wouldn't recommend it for your first heli.

Carcrasher...

This is not my first Heli. Just my first Nitro to build on my own. I've built the Align 600 and several 450s on my own and can set them up quite well. I'm looking forward to this build, but I just wondered what all I'd need that doesn't come with the kit.

In that case:
glow driver
glow extension
90 sized engine OS or YS, your choice
tailblades
paddles
690's to 710's mainblades
105 tailblades
3 high torque servos for swash
gyro w servo 601, 611, CSM 720 or JR's highest end gyro
header tank optional
ELD fuel magnet(a must for the OMI moded OS)
90 sized muffler
tri-flow oil and grease
really good sets of allen wrenches.
fuel filter
fuel tubing(medium)
fuel clips
3m double sided tape( the one with the red backing)very strong stuff.
starter(I prefer the Dynatron) that has enough gonads to crank over a new cold 90!
starter extension 6mm( I use the sullivan unit) hasn't failed yet.
two 7.2v batteries or higher. If you want to make your starter portable( I use two 8cell 3600 mah batteries) otherwise you'll need a 12v gell cell and a really good charger for that. like the units that are sold at auto stores. the battery tender jr works well.
