I am designing a bird that will use some bellcranks, naturally I wish to use brass bearings on some reciprocating positions instead of ball bearings. Is the inner sleeve of a bearing just a stainless steel standoff, or is it something more precise? I cannot find any item designated as a sleeve, etc. for my application in the industrial supplier sites that I use. Photo below shows what I am looking for, example item is a heli part, but the bearing arrangement is similar to what I am coming up with.

Thanks,

Eric

The spacers in for example a Raptor, are not very hard metal and they just serve to fill the gap between a ball-bearing race and the screw.

In the R30's these plain bushes look the same material as those supplied for the larger ball-bearing models.

If you wanted them made from stainless so that you form a plain bearing between the brass or bronze material, I cannot see that would cause a problem.

Probably a small machine shop would be the best bet, with the advantage the inner hole would not be oversize.

You might be able to use a small shoulder bolt to achieve the same thing, without having to have two seperate pieces, and shoulder bolts are usually pretty hard material. SDP/SI should stock them.

Shoulder bolts are great, but the ones at SDP and/or Mcmaster Carr, are short on the thread length. If I tap the surface and install they are OK, but I prefer to have them be long and nylock nut on the other side (dealing with plastics here).

I might just go with some Mcmaster stainless steel standoffs, and see if they are round, accurate enough, not a critical piece.

Thanks,

Eric
