i run 3 fromeco setups now and i love them, the benefits over duralites are well documented on here already.

i have the 4800/arizona in my synergy and it's going fine....others will likely have duralites but at the end of the day it's your wedge. you will struggle to get the unbiased answer you seek.

for my money the fromecos offer a better package though, for e.g

can use any lipo charger without voiding warranty
built in cell balancing and charge protection

those 2 alone make it worth the money...even though it's cheaper!

but both setups will do the job fine.

cheers

I have a similar setup. I have 9255 x 3 for cyclic, a 611 combo on the tail, and a 9451 on throttle all running on the 5.3v duralite reg with the heavy duty switch and the 4000 mah duralite pack. Its pricey but worth it. I've never tried an arizona regulator but I hear great things about them. I don't think you'll be disappointed either way.

Fromeco setup here. Had a little trouble with my first regulator (it blew when i first tried to charge) and the regulator was replaced with another one free by Andy at RealRaptors. Great backup service.

So far with the 2nd regulator now working fine, I've not had the chance to really try then as I'm having hellish problems trying to get the engine in my Synergy running well. But I can tell you the regulator is very nice, with adjustable voltage and the other neat features Fromeco offer.

Give Andy a call and he'll look after you.

Cheers, Will.

Hi,

I run a Fromeco setup in my Rap 50 and also put a Fromeco set up in my Synergy but I have just changed the Synergy over to a Duralite set up purely because of the lack of space on the Synergy and the Fromeco is quite a bulky item.

Both machines have identical radio gear, 9252's, 3152's throttle, GY611's, GV-1 in the Synergy and TJ Pro in the Raptor.

Raptor has the Peerless 2400 pack, gives me at least 6 flights and I have the Duralite 3000 Lipo pack in the Synergy, not sure how many flights this will give me.

Fromeco or Duralite there both good set ups, the Fromeco looks better and you can use the nice pin flag switch but the Fromeco is big, the duralite you don't get any fancy looking reg or the pin flag but it's small and easier to mount.

Simon.

im using the duralight 5.3 with the heavy duty switch, running 2 2s 2100 thunderpower lipos in parallel, for a total of 4200mah. i would reccomend the duralight only for the space savings. have sevral friends running the arizona reg and it works great also, just a bit bulky. a friend of mine made a little mounting plate that goes under the tail rudder servo and you can mount the duralight reg to that. makes it easier to get a glow wrench on the glow plug when you have to change it. i have it mounted to the bottom of the servo tray but am going to make a mount for mine also.

I went with the Arizona and Peerless 2400, also decided on the badger switch.

Hello

Im going to ask my lab buddy about it sometime this week but I know for a fact that you can get a very high quality 6amp switching regulator(its a complete circuit just add your connectors) for FREE. Its made by Texas Instruments so it a high quality product...just request it as a sample part and they will most likely over night it too you.

When I get the PN Ill post back.

Either way you can't go wrong. I don't have a Synergy but I converted over to Fromeco awhile back and I have no regrets. Kurt and company are great to do business with and I recommend them. Radio South has been great to deal with on their regs and I hear good things about Duralite from folks that use them.

Look at the systems, look at what you have for chargers and decide for yourself. I alreaady had an Accucycle Elite, a Duratrax Ice and a Schulze pocket charger so I went with the Fromeco. I also had the Futaba BR2000 and this works well for checking Li-on's.

Is that the badger with the pin flag or the switch? what did you have to do to mount it? I know it is pretty big.

Yes, it is the switch type. When I ordered it my intentions where to mount it low on the frame, but there really is no spot for it except the factory position. I just milled out enough material to clear the small microswitch, charging port and drill two holes.
