| well, it had to happen sooner or later. . .i was on my 3rd tank for the day and was practicing up high when i realized i wasn't in control anymore. throttle cut didn't work--nothing did. so i got the pleasure of watching my heli in high idle up (1850) go in from 300+ ft. since it was so high, it really did build up aLOT of speed before it augered into the ground. did the funky chicken dance for awhile and then blew up the clutch before i got to it to pinch off the exhaust to shut it down. i'm still sorting out what exactly failed, but it was something in the radio system or battery.
anyhow, the damage was shockingly light. on initial inspection the parts needed (aside from the standard main blades, tail blades and paddles) are:
feathering shaft
main shaft
flybar (minor bend, may be able to straighten)
tail rotor bevel gears (in the tail box)
tail output shaft
clutch bell
clutch assy
NO damage to the grips, frames, landing gear, boom supports, main gear or pinion, or radio tray! i can't begin to describe how much damage this type of crash has caused on my fury. the materials used throughout the kit are really, really tough! now that the first crash is out of the way, my friends tell me i can really start hammering this thing!
