e-MS Composit Hornet > Duzi servo mounts on X3D

Hi,

Anyone using the Duzi servo mounts on their X3D ?

The front mount won't fit as E609 sits on E601, if I don't use E609 then I won't have a canopy mount or top support for the battery plate E610.

Any ideas ?

Simon.

I'd probably cut E609 up into pieces to accommodate the Duzi mounts and glue and/or bolt each needed E609 piece to it's place on the frame.

I did this with my H2 to accommodate my Duzi mounts - Later I rearranged my Duzi mounts for better location of my gyro and had to relocated my canopy mount rod which I drilled a 1mm hole through the frame at the new location and used a 1mm CF or steel rod held in place by E207 1mm quick locks.

Gotta be creative sometimes.

I wish the Hornet just used BCP style servo mounting so we wouldn't have to go to this trouble and sacrifice linkage geometry for flex-free servo mounts.

Hey Cap,

Would you mind explaining this sacrificial geometric issue while using the Duzi mounts? I never noticed any linkage issues?

What is BCP?

BCP = E-flite Blade CP heli. One of the other brands out there!

With the stock servo mounts you can get the servo links 90° to both the servo arms and the swash - The Duzi mounts space the servos out around the frame to lower them under the swash making the links come in to the swash at an angle - Depending on the linkage used you might be able to get 90° to the servo arms but not to the swash - I'm using the Duzi raced links and can't get them 90° to either the servo arms or the swash so I have quite a geometry sacrifice.

The Blade CP has perfect geometry and great rigidity with the servos sandwiched against each other atop the frame rather than spaced apart out around the frame like the Duzi.

The stock mount offers the best geometry for the Hornet but is too flexible - The Duzis give the best rigidity but at cost of geometry - A BCP style mount would give both geometry and rigidity but the Hornet mast is too short to allow a BCP style mount which is why the Duzi mounts are widened and lowered down around the frame like they are.

Cap,

Have you noticed any differences in performance? My original setup wasn't as orthogonal as I would have liked but I didn't seem to notice any problem. I have yet to install my Duzi mounts.

No not really - It was trickier to get all the servo arms and linkages setup uniform without the 90° angles to sight to and I get a slight bit of aft cyclic interaction with roll but not enough to really notice in flight.

I could do better and at least get 90° off my servos arms by flipping my servos and using longer links but it doesn't bother me enough at the moment to mess with - I've already changed configurations 3-4 times and will probably continue to try different things until I'm good and satisfied with something.

(thanks for the word "orthogonal", I'll be using it from now on)

Hi,

Got my Duzi servo mounts fitted, had to chop a section out of E609 only problem now is where the rear servo mounts go there is no spece for the gyro mount

Any ideas where I can mount a GY240 ?

I am also using the Duzi swash and guide, with swash centred and level so E073 is in the centre of it travel the swash is very high in the guide, if I go full negative and forward elevator the swash is hitting the top of the guide.

I had the same issues..

I tried mounting my gyro up front with the rest of the electronics but it glitched like crazy - That's why I moved my rear Duzi mount to forward of the mast and use HS-56s so I could put my gyro back in the stock location.

The Duzi anti-rotation arm I turn the part that clamps to the mast upside-down to raise the vertical piece for clearance.
