JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Ergo 46 CCPM set-up

I have just rebuilt my (second-hand) Ergo 46 CCPM and am having a few problems with the pitch set-up. The model uses a one-piece molded link for the short linkage between blade holders and mixer arm, so that part is non-adjustable.

I found that if I set the linkages acording to the book, I have a pitch range of about zero to +20 degrees. I therefore shortened the link between swahplate and mixer arm, so now have -6 to about 19 degrees, but the mixer arms are not level for a hover of around 5 degrees. Nor can I get anywhere near having the arms level and zero pitch. I have settled for the arms off-centre and a mid stick hover of +5 degrees, but isn't there a simple way set up the Ergo? I am trying to get a general pitch curve for sports flying with some aerobatics, not a wild 3D set-up. I am not a complete beginner, I've flown helis for three years and set up my own and others' helis many times, but this one is a bit confusing!

Any advice form other Ergo CCPM owners gratefully received.

Dave,

The settings in the book are not absolute. Just a starting point. Strive for centered servo arms, pushrods at 90 degrees at 50% throttle. From there you may need to adjust the rod lengths (all together) to move the swashplate up or down to center the washout arms at 50% throttle. On an Ergo 46 you will only need a max of +10/-10 for great aerobatics and autos. This set-up above should get you real close to what you need to start off. If you continue to have problems, feel free to email me direct and I will give you exact mesurments from mine.

The main problem is that with the washout arms level, the blades are at about 3 degrees pitch, and that relationship is fixed, as the washout arms to blade holder links are one piece. I shall have to simply fly it and see! Thanks!

Dave,

If your type 2 ergo is the same as the standard model here in the states it most likely is not the 3d version if it has the solid rods from the blade grips to the seesaw arms. I am guessing that it was designed that way to aid in set-up but was not designed for hover at 50%. So to fix that problem you may need pn 970098 short ball links and pn 980052 short control rods all to make your own custom shorter length units to get that 5 degrees of pitch at hover.

That sounds like it, I think I'll fly it again and then see if it is worth getting new links. Doubt that I'll be doing mych flying in the next few weeks, though, too much snow out there now!

Cheers,
