e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > How do you flip to idle up while pinching?

I pinch the sticks and use a neckstrap, but even with that, my fingers are pinching the sticks and holding the transmitter, how do you guys hit throttle hold and idle up? I've been hitting idle up when I'm on the ground and taking if off as soon as I land, if I try to do it while flying I have to take my fingers off the sticks or move my fingers in such a way that the heli will go crazy while I try to flip the switch. I'm using a DX6.

Thanks

Rob

Can you do that with or without a strap without the tx slipping?

I always use a strap, and put my ring finger behind the idle up and throttle hold switches, and my middle finger in front of them. I can switch modes very easily in flight with no problems and without disturbing the control sticks. Been doing it like that for years on other radios, works just as good on the DX6 I use with the T-Rex.

i have to be honest with all you pinch people, the smoothness you can get with that method is unbelievable but i'm trying HARD to get used to it, but without my knowledge or consent, my thumbs just take over.

no-really, on a serious note tho, it is better but i'm just having a hard time unlearning thumbs

I think that's the key, whatever you learned first is what's best for you. My first heli instructor years ago told me to pinch, and I've done it ever since. I've had guys at the field see me flying and ask me how I do that, why I do it, etc. The only answer I can give is it's the way I've always done it, and while I can fly thumbs only, I'm not as smooth on the controls, and can't seem to make the tiny corrections necessary to smooth things out. I've seen thumbs guys who've done it forever who can be just as smooth, and able to make tiny corrections, so I think it's just what you are used to.

I pinch the sticks AND I use a tranny tray so I don't have to hold the tranny at all. The tray has hand supports so the pinch technique works well.

I have small hands and find it difficult to hold a tranny on a strap alone.

Regarding flicking switches, I just take my hand off the relevant stick and flick the switch.

Easy really
