JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > OS .32 Fuel Mixture Question

New to heli's and got my first Friday. Got a Venture CP with the OS .32 and was wondering what percentage to run. Running 15% nitro synthetic. Heard from the locals not to use castor synth mix and use 30% nitro. I have flown planes for 15 years and have had more fun flying my helo the first 15 minutes than all the past 15 years of plane flying put together. What a rush!!

I run my OS 32 SX-H ring with 10 % Nitro, 17 % Aerosave and itīs working perfectly. I removed the glowplug for the first time last week after aprox. 15 L fuel thro it. Me and my fellows couldnīt belive our eys !!! It was like a brand new plug and the little you can see inside the engine thrue the hole show like a new engine !! In differece to my fellows who have used castor oils and the glow plug was dark black and the engine inside was quit dark from leftovers af castor oil.

Hi Don! Welcome to the world of helis. I too flew planes and still do occasionally, but love the helis. I have a Venture but with a Thunder Tiger 39 in it. I had a OS 32 but wasn't happy with it, seemed to heavy for the Venture. I ran, key word there, ran, Cool Power 30% in my 32's and 39 but since Cool Power has come out with 20% with 20% oil, all synthetic, it is my fuel of choice now. I am into my second gallon now and it is performing great. Keep in mind, all I'm doing is hovering, forward flight and loops and rolls. I use the 30% in my 60 size Fury. Synthetic oils allow for easy clean up over castor, and remember to run it a little rich. Hope this helps some.

Just wondering if I should by the TT .39 since I would like more power over my current os.32? How much difference did you see. Is it worth the money or should I save and by a bigger heli later, which I plan to do?

Can you do inverted hover climbouts with the tt39? could you with a os .32?

thanks

Hi BE-40,

Well I had the OS 32 in my Venture and I will admit I wasn't impressed. the Venture seemed to be too heavy. The pull outs were weak and when making approaches I had to stop high as the momentum would take it in to the ground. The TT39 was a great buy. $85.00 from Heli-Hut. It was an easy installation. I had to use the thrust washer (the piece the fan rests on) and install a second washer under it so it woldn't rub. the muffler from the 32 bolted right up. It is a great add on until you get ready for that 60 size.

Don, as you can see, or about to find out, there are many manufactures
with quality fuels. We all make our claims, We are truly lucky to have such a huge fuel market! I use Wildcat 15 % and just bought some Wildcat 20% of which I have yet ran. But I can say, that I do have good results with WC 15% . My plugs look like new after many gallons thru them, and I have great idle etc......
I too will be purchasing a TT39 for one of my heli's. With the great feedback and all, I cannot afford not to get one, or two!!
I too fly planes...22 yrs.... Heli's "WOW" what a turn on! Good luck and welcome!! No more monokote!!! Balsa or cutting hinge slots!!!!
