Collecting my Synergy at 3DM

But I recall reading that there may be an issue with the Hatori 938 on the Synergy being too close to the fuel tank. Is it true that an extension is required?

Can anyone running this combination confirm that all is ok?

Got all other bits required, just waiting on the kit

OS91 SZH
Hatori 938
3 x S9255
1 x S9254 (Throttle)
GY611/S9256
CSM Revlock 2
Duralite 5.3V regulator
Duralite 4000mah Battery
149DP Receiver
Radix 710 Blades
(SAB 105mm tails and paddles, included in kit)

Also does the Synergy ship with decals for those of us who are not going to immediately purchase a painted canopy? If so any pictures

Also is a fuel magnet recommended

Sorry for so many questions just want to get everything sorted

Hi harveyhugo

I am planning on fitting my OS91SZH and Hatori 938 to the Synergy and recal someone saying that you need to fit a spacer so as not to melt the fuel tank. I will make the spacer myself if I feel it needs it, but I'm sure you can purchase one from somewhere...
I'm planning on fitting a header tank too as I don't think one is provided (Unlike with a Raptor kit!)
The production kits are supposed to come with a decal set but as yet I dont think anyone has seen sight of what it looks like...

Collecting my kit at the 3DM so it looks like there are going to be a lot of people wandering around with Synergy boxes!

Here's my planned setup:

OS91 SZH (Non Pumped)
Hatori 938
3 x S9255 (Cyclic/Collective)
1 x S3152 (Throttle)
GY601/S9251
RevMax
Duralite 6V regulator with stepdown for tail servo
Duralite 4000mah Battery
PCM G3 Receiver
Radix 710 Blades or 710 V-blades depending on which feel best
(SAB 105mm tails and paddles, included in kit)

Hey guys. I'm looking for a hatori pipe myself and was wondering which one would be best suited for the os. szh pumped and the synergy? Is that 938 the way to go? Or is there one that doesn't require a spacer?

The engine and pipe combo has been ran in my Raptor 90 for the last couple of months and is fantastic with tons of power so can only imagine that it will be a great combo in the Synergy too. Just not sure on the spacer issue and wether or not the clearance is better with the SB Hatori pipes.

Thanks for the info RockDoc

I toyed with going with a 6V regulator but wasn't certain about doing that with the S9255 servos.

I like the comfort factor of a header tank also, having always had Raptors before, and will probably fit one eventually.

I hadn't thought of making a spacer myself, would be similar to a thick gasket I suppose.

Hopefully someone is currently running this combo and will let us know the score.

Bob J if your about, do you know the answer?

Maybe Hatori make such a spacer?

Synergy N9 exhaust

The exhaust that is recommended for the Synergy N9 is the sb-18 for the OS and if using a YS the sb-16. These are both available from Hatori/USA. The muscle pipe will also work good for the OS.

Hi

I think the 938 is ok if you are using a OS pumped or none pumped but the YS and Cline system will cause the tank to swell enough to get very close to the muffler, the Hatori USA mufflers have a longer neck I believe so this gets around the problem, a short spacer or stack of say Quick UK ali gaskets would work.
The Muscle pipe 2 works well and is miles clear of the tank.
If you use a fuel magnet then you do not need a header tank, with the Cline set up it's almost scarey how low you can run the tank with no change in mixture, down to vapours almost!

Cheers

BTW

The MP2 has the edge on the 938 for torque with the 91 SZ but both work well.

Thanks for the reply BobJ

I've already got the 938 but I could exchange it for a MP2 if necessary as it is still bagged in the box. I presume the difference in torque is minor.

The reason I didn't buy a MP2 is that I have 2 on my Raptor 50's and I have found that they tend to only function well in a very narrow power band. Is the case the same with the 90 size MP2?

As I'm running the unpumped standard OS91SZH I think I will just add a header tank and run with that initially.

Hi

I'm using Hatori #938 on both my N9's with the pumped SZ-H engine. The muffler has good clearance (about 1 cm) to the fuel tank. No problem at all.

It has good clearance to the canopy too. No modifications needed.

The power is good and it's running smooth as silk with the #938. I have only used the #938 with the SZ-H, and not tried any other mufflers.

Hope this helps

Looking forward to seeing you fly at the 3DM again, really enjoyed what you achieved with the Rappy 50 last year. All the best for this years competition

Sorry to be a pain but I can't seem to find the pipe I need anywhere. Can someone post a link for me? I found this one:

http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me...Code=HATMSB18FH

But is says its for the c-spec only. I have the pumped OS SZH and I definitely want to go with Hatori. Thanks

Hi guys,
I'm using the 937 (YS Version) on a YS engine and needed to space the muffler out a little after it burned through one tank.

It sounds like that's not the case with the 938 and the OS, but it definately is with the 937 and YS.

According to SynergyRC the MP2 will be fine for the Synergy. If you can put up with it falling off every other flight that is!

Can't wait to see all these Synergy's competing at the 3DM this year. Good luck to everyone.
