| RE:David_Yates, Ripped off or not - you decidePS this is being posted here because it has to do with trading/buying and selling from a fellow RR member - I am hoping that this might help get the gyro that I have been waiting over 5 weeks delivered to me.
Ok, here goose:
I am not one to outright call someone a liar or cheat - not until I could back up the claim. But here's a brief situation, you tell me if you think I got ripped off and if you would be mad as hell over it or not.
About 5 weeks ago I had a couple radio's up for sale. Was contacted by David_Yates on this forum and offered a 401 gyro for the radio set and case that I had advertised. I told him I would think it over as I was needing the money more than anything due to a work injury and cut in pay as a result of it. After a couple days he contacted me stating that he really needed the radio because "My son knocked my heli radio off the dresser and broke it" and "I just want to get back in the air". Being a dad myself and heli guy I agreed and thought I could help him out and get a back up gyro in the trade.
Next day I sent the TX/RX and case off to him priority 2 day delivery so that he could have it before the weekend. **Poof** he disappears for about 10 days and I cant get a response from him via several Emails and PM's.
Then I see that he has included the very radio I had sent him with another guys heli add (a "buddy of his" - his words I belive) (here's a link to the add)
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/...=david_yates#RR) .
After about 20 PM's sent to him I send a email asking
"> Hi david_yates
>
> Where is the 401 gyro - or was there ever one to
> start with? I haven't received it and you wont
> respond to my emails/PM's - I hate to pas such
> judgment but I am assuming your just another scammer
> or con artist? If not then you should take a second
> to respond to people while making such transactions
> - instead of acting like you have been."
I received a message back (a bit to my surprise) that he had been called out of town for a death in the family (great - I felt like a ass then) and " no I am not a scammer buddy, I am all over the good guy list. I am out of town and can not log in to rr for some reson. I am glad you e-mailed me I will be back tomorrow afternoon and your gyro will be out then. I am very sorry for the mix up, I had the box laying out out just forgot to mail it." This was back on the 27th of June.
Ok, this seems plausable - so I sent the following:
"David, I am sorry to hear about the recent events - and unplanned trip. I have sent 3-4 pm's to you but they went unanswered (RR showed they had been read though). And I had not received the gyro. I hope you can understand why I was starting to think I had been ripped off. I am glad you have emailed me back though - at least I understand now what is going on.
Again, I hope you can understand why I was starting to think I had been scammed and I hope you will accept my apologies."
He later explained that the PM's were read on his cell phone but that it would not let him reply and that he could not log into RR from a computer at his current location - but that he could respond to my email from that location.
Ok guess it could happen.............
After a couple days and a few PM's/emails I got a reply that the Gyro had gone out in the mail. I asked several times for a tracking # or something showing that it had been sent out and got no response. After a week or so and no Gyro I again started sending Emails and spamming PM's.
On the 5th of July I sent the following :
"David - according to the last email I received you stated "I just got home and will be sending the gyro today and will e-mail you with the tracking number." - That was 6 days ago and Now again I have not heard from you and the couple PM's I have sent have gone unanswered. Please send me a update, this is getting very old and once again it appears that I'm being dodged or something here. Lets get this issue cleared up so we can be done with it."
I received a reply that he thought it should have been here by now and that he would check with the post office to find something out. (Again I asked 4-5 times for a tracking # and got nothing)
On the 7th I received the following
"Hi,
Post office couldn't tell me anything, so I just
yanked a 401 off my rex and will sent that out and the
another MO, all I ask is if the other one shows up is
to please send it back to me, as I am no down a 401.
Please send me you address again and I will send
priority with delivery confirmation and tracking number.
Thanks,
David"
I sent my address and asked that I be given the tracking #......... now 8 days later and too many emails and PM's to count I have received nothing in response and nothing in the mail.
Let me hear what you all think - if anyone knows David personally I would like to know if this sounds like him or what is going on here. I never had a bad deal until this one and I dont know. Maybe I am being conned or maybe David has worse luck than me. I'm not saying hes a liar or a thief - just trying to lay the facts out and let me hear what you all think.
As my dad would have said "If you lay around acting like a dog - expect to get some fleas".
I could post all the emails sent and PM's sent and the few that were received but it would take up 10 pages at least and i really don't want to go through each one and edit out phone numbers and addresses and such.
David if your reading this then feel free to toss your defense in here - I already told you that I am not calling you a thief or con but I think I have asked for very little and gotten even less in this deal. Provide me a tracking number or a emailed scan of the money orders you say you have sent. Respond to my emails and PM's do something to resolve this issue.
OK, so it won't fly any better but it looks damn good on my shelf. Bling-Bling! |
