Fixed pitch helicopter that uses plank engines and a simple 4 channel radio. Besides the fact that it is fixed pitch and probably extremely heavy, I would think that it would suffer from very bad overheating problems with plank engines and no fan cooling the engine. Anyone ever come across one of these?

My first heli...

Howdy!!!
A lot of folks will have a lot of bad stuff to say about this chopper.. It was my first.. I built it while in college in 1990 and I learned to hover it and fly it around while walking behind it.. It is actually quite stable in a hover, and I never had a lick of trouble with the Supertigre 40 overheating.. It crashed into a peach tree about 5 months after I bought it, and I didn't rebuild.. It would be another 5 years before I got back into helis with the Kyosho concept, gag, cough.. I think I liked the MFA 500 better..

Of course that's when Supertigre were built in Italy and were bullet-proof!

@ Flatspin..

Howdy!!
Hey, you're right!!! I have heard a bunch of plank guys at the field bashing Supertigre and saying they suck and all and that they just are not the same... Where are they made now?? By the way, I still have a couple of "Como's" from the 80's, when I was a kid... They were made by the brother of the Supertiger guy... I always felt the Como's were a step above... They were certainly much prettier with regard to fit and finish..

As far as I know the production is now taking place in the land of "cheap labor" and "sweat shops"

I am not into planks as much any more but my last few engines were the Italian Rossi and Czech made MVVS. Both fantastic engines!
