Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Who has decided they have to have an Aurora?

The other thread has run out of steam and I need more. Post if you made the decision and are in cash scraping mode along with me.

Also post what you are planning to use for cyclic servos, gyro, and governor.

I think I am going to start with 9252s because I have three. They seem underrated on speed and Airtronics seems overrated to me.

I think I'll try a CSM 720 and a Revlock RL-20 too.

Count me in...

I was going to do a Synergy as an upcoming winter project, but the Aurora looks too nice to pass up.

I am planning on doing 9255 servos, 611/9256, OS Hyper pumped w/hatori sb17. I'll give the new Curtis governor a whirl on throttle, along with radix blades all around.

Now, let me go in the back yard and pick that money tree clean...

Drooling over Aurora already!

I had good luck with my 8311's for cyclic. Maybe a 610 for throttle duties. 611/9256. YS/MusclePipe. RevLock. CY blades. Dave Yost canopy paint.

Hey Mike, this is Eric from swarm, 9252's are a bad choice for the avant and most likely the aurora. There have been a few reports of the stripping out in flight. Your best choice would be something metal geared, such as the 9255's, or the 9451's (what I'm using).

Hi Guys mine,s on order from Midland UK and Im collecting it at masters.

Have already got OS 91 SZ-H pumped Hyper, Muscle pipe , will be puting the 611/9256 gyro ,csm revlock governor, futaba 9451 servo's on cyclics and a 9252 on throttle I no thats a bit of an expensive servo to put on the throttle but I,ve got one lying around as a spare so what the hell its only money.
Might as well put the best on a top of the line heli.
Hmm blades I think I,ll try the Radix.
Been saving all year for a new heli was getting avant EFX kit had already bought some bits for it then the Aurora was anounced took one look at it and paid my deposit that nite.
With Agusto,s reputation for Quality and service it will be a sure fire winner.
Cant wait to see the Szabo,s fly it at the Masters and of course our own Steven Gerrard from this side of the pond.

If you're stripping 9252's on CCPM heli,something's wrong.Theese servos
are around for some time and they're "battle tested".It's nice to have strong metal geared servos , but doubt it's a must.Don't forget you got 3 servos doing job of 1 (ccpm opose to standart).
I got 9252's on 1 of my Avants without any issues.I've also used them on other CCPM ships with no problems at all and I bet I'm not alone.

I'm hanging back on this decision as I want to give both the Aurora and N9 a very good lookover first and weigh up the pros and cons.

Hang the expense. Why not overcapitilise again.

Plastic gears are ok to fly with, but when your really pounding the crap out of the machine they will strip. Personally I'd rather be safe then sorry. Augusto even reccomends the Metal gears for servo choice if you look on page 31 of the manual. I too would have used 9252's, but I like the specs for speed on my 9451's on 6V.

Eric - If I didn't have the 9252s already I'd go for something better but I'll risk it for now. I'm not a 3D monster yet so they should hold up for quite a while.

Its interesting how these new governors are all coming out at the same time too.

Is anyone going to use a G7000T? There sure aren't many out there but I hear nothing but great things about them - except the price.

What about batteries? With the quick-swap setup maybe two 2400s are the way to go instead of a 4800 now.

How much are the Yost paint jobs?

I hope to get one, going to have to save up for it though. It seems like it's going to be a beauty of a heli and I can't wait to hear peoples thoughts on it when it's released! Not sure of what servo's I plan to put in her but I will most likely be using the Aerospire governor, a JR 7000T gyro w/8700G on the tail, an OS .91 SZH Hyper, Hatori SB-17 muffler, probably SAB blades and not sure of the rest yet.

I'll certainly be getting one!

I've been in this hobby for years. The Aurora is the most exciting helicopter I've seen since I first started reading about them in 73.

Nice job, Avant Team!
