Hi all, got a question for all you scale gurus. How do you go about making your instrument panels? And I don’t mean slapping a printed piece of paper in your cabin.

I go to a local hobby store that sells intruments in the scale I build in. They are great!! Very detailed, color faces that are applied to the instrument body and clear lenses that are placed over them. After doing that I glue them in place on the instument panel. If I have pics of the real thing I arrange them as accurate as possible. If not I model after what the sticker looks like. If I can find the name of the company the next time I'm in there I'll post it here so you can look at them online.

Another source for scale instruments is Vario. I don't know if the faces are color or black and white. You may want to go to www.eastcoastvario.com and shoot Joe and email and ask him.

I used to use the same ones as Chris until i saw the Vario one. They are even updated with some computer like screens in the kit, and all colored decals for the lens housing. After i stick on the decal on the housing, i mix up some 30 min epoxy, and with a toothpick, wick it over the decal, and when it drys, it looks like a glass bezel. The other guage decals are made by Modellbau, and JTec.
