Hi everyone,

First af all, I want to say how much i love this little bird -it flys great! Got my first one about a month ago or so and been transfixed with it. I also have to metion that I also own a a trex, but, I really like the size of the hornet and what it does for its size. This is my problem, I keep stripping the pinion -gone through 4 already- and it really is getting old, not to mention expensive. I did a little research in this forum and found that there is a guy -in Gremany -who makes metal pinions but for some odd reason does not want to sell them.

Does anybody know where I can get one? Onyone selling one or directions as to how to make one?

I'd appreciate any input you may have.

Thanks in advance

> keep stripping the pinion
I assume you mean the conical tail drive pinion (main gear end) with steel tail drive shaft. Does this happen when you land, particularly in grass? If you have a 'one way bearing' on the main gear, I found that if I flick the throttle cut switch about 6-12 inches high and small auto land, the tail stops quickly and doesn't snag the grass. Plus the energy bleeds away from the main rotor quite quickly and if you do manage to tip over then you'll do less damage anyway.

I've only had issue with the conical drive pinion from chasing really fast piro's. When you exit the very fast piro (stick centre) the gyro can react too quickly and over stress the pinion, which can start to spin on it's shaft, as the heli tries to stop piro'ing instantly. Doesn't always show up straight away and may let go next time under high toque load, like during a hard climbout or flip.

Let us know what happens.

Hi,

you can buy them here [url=http://www.f3x-shop.de/pi1404465629.htm?categoryId=2] in Germany but I don't know if they ship to overseas.

Sit down before you have a look at the price - but its worth every cent, really. I own it by myself - no wear, no stripping, easy maintenance as it is screwed....

Best regards

Thanks for the link,

26 euros for a pinion!!! it's kind of a lot but I think that by the time i replace every pinion, I will have spent more than 26 euros.
Right now, I am waiting on some pinions I ordered from MS.

How did you get yours? Did they send it to you? I don't know German so there's no easy way for me to contact them - Iguess someone over there must speak English or Spanish..

Anyhow, I'd appreciate anymore inout you may have.

Thank you in advance

Just for additional information:
Walkera 22A has all 3 gears in metal no grub screws though.
Metal cogs $10 here.

Check these 2 threads for more info, 1, 2

Summary:
There's speed up factored in, so the tail boom end gear is actually bigger than the tail shaft end gear, but they dun seem to run smooth....

...tried the metal conical gear from the clone kit in an attempt to solve the stock conical gear wearing out fast issue.......
Well in his recent crash... his whole main gear was totalled... the area that engages the conical gear was mushed up pretty badly.... the metal conical gear however is spotless!!!

So what's better, screwing up a 4$ conical gear or a 10+$ main gear? Hmmm...

Well, I'm just a little disappointed. I ordered these and they are not metal.

Part # HM-22A-Z-25
SKU: Steering Gear

I unpacked them and they seemed to light in weight to be metal, so I opened my flatbed scanner and dropped on on the glass, Plastic....

Oh well, now I have an extra plastic set.

Haha, I don't take it hard, no worry!

That's ok, If they work like the MS ones, it'll work out fine!

Thanks anyway.
