I have a TZ90/Stinger 90 or whatever it's called. The tail is belt driven and the tailboom seem to crawl every time I fly. The inevitable result is a very slack tailbelt during an after every flight, I always have to call my flights short because of this problem. Please anybody advice.....what can I do to prevent the boom from slipping??

I’m reasonably sure that you can buy a boom clamps specifically for this, i.e. one that you mount right at the heli end of the boom in order to stop it slipping inwards once you’ve tensioned the belt.

However I’m not sure if they will necessarily fit the Stinger 90 boom, you’ll have to do some research...

I can’t remember who makes/sells them - I have a suspicion that the parts I’ve see were from K&S, but others may also make them. I’m sure someone here will know...

Alternatively you could make one from an old (or new...) tail servo mount, the type that clamps to the boom (and unfortunately come in pairs...) - i.e. cut off the actual servo mount arm and just use it as a clamp.

Hope this helps!

Boom

Hi,

is the boom slipping from the frames? or from the tail case?
i beleve from the frames?

if so, is it slipping outside or turning?
you can also make a small hole and insert a screw to prevent it from mioving, but you need to do it on the right palce not to hit the belt.

It's slipping from the frame, I think I might try to make a boom stop of some kind to try to prevent it from slipping.....thanks a million for your replies.....

Another tip is to wind some electrical tape around the part of the boom that fits into the frames to make a tighter fit.

It that still doesn't work, I've seen some people glueing sandpaper on the boom to make it stick better in the frames.

ya I used a rap 50 boom in my stinger 50 and its a tight fit, had to sand it down alittle, but if yours is loose just wrap some tape to where it fits in the frame....wish I had your problems

One other thing to try is to cross sand the end of the boom that gose into the tail case, this will as sand paper to and should help to keep the boom from slipping, Iam flying the stinger 90 and i have around 3 gallons on mine and the tail belt is doing fine..

Hey I didn't ask for this fetish.!!!But I'am sure paying for it....
