No. Every heli I have every setup correctly on the bench requires NO tracking in the field one bit. Not an ounce of tracking!!!
I am talking about a couple Raptor 50s,Venture, a Lepton, and I just built and setup a new Evo50 this weekend. Dead on tracking off the bench.

If you measure all your linkages with a digital calipers and put links on backwards as needed to get correct lengths then you will have no problems.

How much time or money?

Time: A a few minutes before each flight performing a pre-flight check. I check linkages, control direction, the belt, etc. I've had to swap out ball links maybe 2 times in the past year and about to do my 3rd overhaul a little later this week.

Money: Seriously, not too much. I've put probably $750 into my T-Rex 450X V2 since Aug. of last year. That includes oopsies and bling.

I should add that it's MUCH cheaper than my pack a day cigarette habit.

Just my 2 cents

I've been flying heli's for about 6 months now. I first started with a blade CP and never could get it to fly very well. I then got a trex SE and wow what a difference. I could actually fly! Tail position was rock solid and flying was very smooth. I've had a couple of minor crashes but only becuase of my flying skills (as in lack of). If you take the time to get everything lined up (servos, flybar, blades ...etc) it will fly great. I spent the time to review all the on-line videos available and that helped alot. I don't get all the problems form the original poster. I think the trex is a good product. But... I can only go on my own experience. This is my first post but I thought I need to jump in on this one.

No, because there are no kits available, and I also crash sometimes. It's a BIG issue to have a dealer with parts in stock. I do not wish to wait for 4 weeks to be able to fly again...

Also, I do not wish to invest that much money in batteries (10-12s).

The 600 is so much fun! I love the flapping sound

You know how they have the letter "A" stamped on one side? That side is supposed to go to the outside of the ball. Some folks cheat and force their links on backwards... I'm assuming because they don't know about the "fine tuning" links.

I do not recommend putting your ball links on backwards. Use the fine tuning linkages. All the ball links have a letter "A" printed on the side that goes on the outside of the ball.

hmm whats the different adjusting it on t he fine tuning linkages compared to the pitch trip on the highest level linkage?



shelldude: when u put RIP on Ozydego , does that mean he is not around anymore?


does the ball link only apply for t-rex? or apply for all heli? cause on my hobby lobby falcon , i only see numbers on one side and no number on the other side.

how do you know if it is on backward if there is no marking? any measurements?

Look at the top linkages as coarse adjustments. If you've got a good centimeter or so of tracking difference use the coarse (upper) adjustment links for an adjustment. One turn typically covers about a centimeter.

If you've got a millimeter or so of difference then use the fine (lower) adjustment links. One turn typically covers about a millimeter.

Yeah, Ozy left us some time ago.

I've only seen the "A" stamp on T-Rex links. My shogun and revo don't have them. The easiest way to tell on a ball link that isn't marked it to look closely at it. One side will be a bit narrower. That is the outer side.

Always snap ball links on "A" side out, they will last much longer. Look at them closely they are designed to work this way. The very top links are for more drastic changes than the lower/longer links connceted to the swash. 1 turn on the short links is equal to 2 turns on the long links. Often people cheat to get tracking right and twist a top link a half turn. Not the right way to do it, go a full turn on one of the long links. Putting the link on the "a" side makes it much more prone to "egging"

and other than trex ball links , for other heli like shogun/zoom/falcon , anyway to identify which side suppose to face outwards? cause i dont see any marking on them

It's been a while since he's made a public appearance... wish he's be more vocal... the guy was a great asset to the RR community.

The easiest way to tell on a ball link that isn't marked is to look closely at it. One side will be a bit narrower. That is the outer side.

yea i see on my trex the ball links has a A side marked on it. but on my other electric heli it is not marked =(.
