Just wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a new heli only club in the Lancaster, Ashville, Pickerington, Canel Winchester area?

Do you already have a field? Also, there is a new club that just formed in the Delaware area. The website is www.corflyers.com.

Charles,

I think the interest in a club on the East side of town is there, the main problem is a finding suitable field for guys to fly at that's not going to be gobbled up by urban expansion in the next couple of years. I was part of a small group of guys that tried to start a heli only club in Reynoldsburg two summers ago, but unfortunately we lost our field due to development and the club pretty much fizzled out after that.

Charles,

Not that this wasnt already tried...but the biggest thing is getting a field. Trust me we have plenty of intrest in the Lancaster, Pataskala, Pickerington, Canal Winchester area? And we already had a club together C.O.R.E.(Central Ohio Rotary Enthusiasts) which I believe is still around.

Find a field thats around the Diley road area and you'll have plenty of heli guys ready to join your club. Better yet find a field and we could probably bring CORE back.

I belong to FORKS but not much heli guys in the club. Would like to see a heli club start in the area so I do not have to drive over 1hr to fly with other helis. I live south of Canal Winchester in the Amanda area ( SR 674 & SR 188 ) I would be more then happy to start looking around the Amanda / Lancaster area to see if we could find and area if we have the interest. Was C.O.R.E in the Delaware area back in the 80's?? I used to belong to a club back in 89-90 that flew off 23 in south of Delaware.

Charles,

Yes your right there are not to many Heli guys in the FORKS club. Infact you'll find that a portion of the clubs are not very heli friendly, hence the reason CORE was started about two years ago. All heli club, about 15 guys ranging in skill level from Novice to Expert 3d, with the goal of just bruning fuel, progressing our skills and none of the club BS. But like Kinger mention, we lost our field in Pataskala off of Main St and Mink Rd.

Like I said the intrest is there, just a matter of finding a field that is centrally located to the Lancaster, Pataskala, Pickerington, Canal Winchester area. Right now we have been getting together around the Diley rd area.

I will start asking around and see what I can find avalible. I have the equipment to develop a site if we can find an area. Both my son and I are learning and can learn for being around some heli guys. FORKS is not bad but they just built a new heli area so we do not get in the way of the other flyers, but they bult it on a slope and it's giving my son problems as he works on hovering.

How much land would a heli only club take? Field less over fly area and field + over fly area.

Charles,

I attached a Photo of our old field...I'll have to ask around and see if I can find out the size of our old field. I do know we could fly 3 flight stations comfortably, a forth if needed. Fun Flys we could easily handle 35-40 pilots and get everyone good flying time. The field faced north so issues with the sun were not to bad.

I am thinking of starting a club just outside on lancaster.(RT188 and RT256 Interesction)
me and my father-in-law have a friend that is a farmer there and is giving us a field. so if interested let me know. It will be plane and heli. I am just starting helis so some friends to help me would be great. My father-in-law flys planes. But really wants to fly my heli alot. so maybe he will get a heli.
