This weekend I crashed and I am still miffed at the reason why. For starters let me tell you what I have: I got an Evo 50 here on RR, nice deal, 9252 all around and a nice OS 50 SX.
I took some parts off the machine, and rechecked but all in all it was a good build form the previous owner, I installed my TJ Pro on it and because I am here in Germany a new receiver because of the Hz thing.
So I get to the flying field, all in all it was a bit windy but I did not think it would be a problem, after reversing my gyro, I had to track the blades (TT carbons)…. I got that done and all and all while hovering the machine all felt good, maybe needed a bit more RPM’s on the head but I had not gotten that far.
Hovering there I did a slow hovering pirouette and as I got back to a tale in position the helicopter (approximately 7 feet high) on it’s own dipped down on its tail and hit the ground…
As it slammed into the ground I lowered the collective and it just sat there idling…
Not sure what happened. It was a very slow aft cyclic move… and I am not sure if I gave it a full forward cyclic but I did try to stop the aft cyclic slide..
Needless to say I am a bit upset but I am puzzled for the reasons why…
At the filed I took a look at the damage, and I noticed that the collective was stuck I thought that I had stripped the servo but once I got the washout pins realigned everything moved just fine,,, the elevator servo worked without any problems..
As I am writing this I am wondering if I had my pitch curve set too low for throttle hold and the washout came out of the pins (as I was resetting the tracking on my blades I would perform hovering autos--- an man could she hang in the air)…. I probably would not have noticed while hovering until a wind gust moved the heli and when I tried to move the controls it would not have responded properly.
For now she’s back on the fix it table, I’ll take the electronic parts off and send them to get checked. I’ll try it again
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. |
