Hi All,

How did you all get into heli's?

I grew up with airplanes and the hobby with my dad. I guess it just stuck.

I jumped into heli's after seeing a segment on DIY TV with a piccolo fun fly. It got me thinking. So off I went... 6 heli's later, I'm totally hooked.

Cheers,
Leslie

I was watching hubby (tjride) play with his Blade and it just looked like fun. Then he took me to his computer to show me the sim - that was like playing a video game. I was hooked!

Hello All,
I am Brenda and if you read CTD's post you will Know who I am and his girls. Haylee is the only one out of three that learned to fly helis and is picking up her T-rex with her Uncle at this time. She loved to spend time with her dad at the field. Kevin told her there was a womans thread here now and she is excieted about it so you will prob find her here soon. Before Mike passed he had gotten Haylee the T-rex, she did not know about it, Mike wanted to build it for her and surprise her with it he was so proud of her, and her questions of flying. When I brought the heli to her a few days later all she could do is look at it and cry, now she just wants to fly it so she can be with her Daddy as she tells me. Haylee is 19 and our youngest has more heart than I can tell you about. Ok I am starting to ramble so I will stop. Just look for her because anything her dad did she will do.

Thanks, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I read the posts. My heartfelt condolences. This community is very close knit. I'm finding myself getting emotional, although I did not know Mike.

I hope all is well with you all.

Definitely get Haylee on board here. I fly a couple trex's myself and KJFLY and Jetgirl fly trex's and flippychick is thinking about a trex as her next bird.

Everyone here is very helpful and supportive. I am especially glad I asked Mark for this forum, and he graciously accepted the idea.

Cheers,
Leslie

well, how did I get involved. My dad was in the military, I was always around heli's airplanes and the like at the base. I have alwasy been fasinated by the simple fact something so HUGE and HEAVY could take off the ground and fly with incredible grace! Heli's always interested me when I was growing up. I remember Armed Forces Day, they had Hugeys that you would be able to crawl all around in and that is where you would find me.

As i got older, things changed but I always stopped to watch airplanes fly overhead, and the sound of jets or helis' always made me pause.

It was about 3 or so years ago I met a guy who flew heli's. He was kinda cute. I thought ot myself, gotta get to know this guy. Well, I did and he got me trying to fly planes. I tried and it wasnt' quite what I wanted. So at the beginning of this year, he has a heli. I asked to try it out. I was hooked. We would go out each night to a well lit parkinglot and I would fly a little. Finally he gave up trying to get stick time on his own heli and 'traded' it to me for a motor. I bought the 450X kit so I could build one and see how they work. Well I have been flying since January and I like it! I am learning what I can when I can and I am hooked. OH so hooked.

And that is my story
