Hi gals

I was wondering what makes you like and fly helis? I have been trying to convince my wife to join me in the hobby as she likes to watch (for about 7 minutes tops) but even on the sim, she seems to have a reaction time of 20 seconds for any needed input? I find that kinda wierd since her reaction time for new cloths or spotting shops is less than 0.06 secs so it ain't neurological for sure.

Whenever I mention the subject her answer is that she doesn't have the hands for it and that she feels bored flying/building them.

Any hope? If not, I have a opening for a heli flying mistress any candidates?

Tony

Hi Tchavei,

I like heli's because I was raised in a flying family. My Dad was a bird Col. in the Air force, so I was infused with the flying thing from birth.

My dad and I flew planks from the time I was born. So I am predisposed to the whole thing. I am also an engineer so the mechanical/electrical thing is a total match.

Getting your wife into it. Hmmm, I don't know her background but have you tried the common interest, quality time together aspect?

Cheers,
Leslie

Keep at it guys, it took quite some time before my wife decided to fly but after she got going she really enjoyed it. First remember to get her a heli to fly, if not she will be learning on yours!!

Hi Slider,

So you are totally into boats. How did you convince your wife that the boat thing was good?

Cheers,
Leslie

The day my girl wanted to go to the field with me, I was very happy... up until she wanted to go home... 15 minutes later.

Next time she asked, I said yes again and I was still very happy, but I told her to bring her own car. I love the food she brings though!

Sometimes being the 'other hobby' can be really stressful for hte woman. There is a HUGE pressure put on the wife/girlfriend to suceed.

I grew up in military bases all over the world so I have had some sort of heli/plank around me at all times. I flew kites with my dad when he wasnt' overseas and when my folks divorced. I was on a plane every summer to go see him for years. So for me, getting into this hobby seemed only natural. I even did model rockets for a few years.

Find out what interest them, maybe flying kites would be enough for them. Make sure they are not bored when they go to the field with you. That is the biggest thing.

Good luck, as we can ALWAYS use more Woman Flyers

My wife ,to say it mildly,is how can we say...competitive. So when my son got his Blade CX, and we had little contests, she had to join in. She got a bit bold and wanted to fly the Raptor one day, the purple one in my gallery(sold a while ago) and I kinda "discouraged" her nitro experience so she sticks to the CX every now and then.

bring her to the field!!

when my boyfriend first started flying, I hated it!!! I was so bored all the time, and all I heard about was the heli. Once I went out to the field with him, and saw the real thing, I was interested in it so I started messing around on the sim. Next thing ya know, we are in the hobby store, and I decided to get one. I think that if you would get her to fly a blade cx she might be interested. That's what I am starting on. I like it, and so does the boyfriend. I think that you should have her come on here and talk to some of us chicks!! And just tell her how much it would mean to you if she at least tried it out. We have so much fun going out to the field together! Plus I get one heck of a tan lol.

I forgot to mention....

don't ever disscourage or get upset with your other half if they are doing something wrong on the sim or the real thing. If you have more expiriance, you have to be patient!! Remember, we are still women, when my boyfriend starts to get edgy with how I am flying, I get really upset, and feel like I am being scolded or something. I like help, just not lectures lol. Respect the fact that she is trying it out, even if she doesn't like it in the end.

What made me get into it was that my dad always told me that what he could do so could i. So he taught me how to do the basic's ... grinding, welding and other odds.

So hubby let me go onto his and i really enjoyed the thrill. He pushes me without knowing that he does i want to get to do what he does etc.

Leslie Boating is a whole other thing, the boat is like a summer home on the lake she doesn't have to ever get off if she doesn't want too.... Plus we have a large group of people in the marina that we party with and go to the islands over nite with.. It's a very social thing and we have a big boat with all the comforts of home....
Usually at nite all the women climb on our boat for the hen house session, if a man comes aboard they get to make them all drinks, we (men) never go there when the hens are on the boat....

I wish I could entertain the idea of flying with my wife. OK, she's got super fast hand/eye reactions unlike myself (days) but unfortunately it's probably the last thing she would try. She would positively hate it . But then there are the children - hopeful.

My wife calls them "heli-crap-tors". Some days she thinks there cool, others she thinks there just useless toys. And now she's getting me Raptor50 for my birthday. Maybe I'll donate my Trex to her and get her involved and make it more like a "couple, together thing with squishy emotions quality time". I'd even go as far as painting the canopy pink.

Wish ya luck!

I am trying a totally different approach.... When I go fly I get her to fuel the heli, clean the heli and pay for the crashes.. Sometimes when I am really in a good mood I ask her if she wants to polish the aluminum on the heli...

I am hoping that she will evntually get tired of all that and want to change roles...

If at first you don't succeed... Spend MORE money and TRY again!!!

Or.....she'll get so POd of having to do the dirty work that she'll eliminate her competition and you'll wake up one morning to the heli smashed in pieces on the floor. lol
