I have been trying to get new blades for weeks, they are out of stock. I need the plastic inner tail crown gear because it just stripped...out of stock. I love flying my HB 3D, but can't fly it without parts!! Are there other sources of parts besides Century/helicopter world..even though I only live 45 minutes from them!!!

Its my fault

Its all my fault,

I've been doing too much blowing off about how much I like the 3dpro....

I haven't been around long enough to know, but I've read everything written about it since its been released. Seems to me that the beta tester early release strategy has stunted popularity previously, but its matured into a great little heli with the available upgrades. Now everyone else is starting to notice.

Until my parts that are in transit, get hear I can't reveal my source, but I'll front you a crown gear if you give me your address.

Can't help you with the blades.

Sweet. Thx Tom. I will PM the address. My blades are ok, just a little nicked. I just like to have extras. I was even thinking of splurging and buying the CF blades, but they were out of them too.

I thought I wanted a TREX, but am having lots of fun with the 3D pro. It fits in my neighborhood with the trees. It was a tall weed that took out my crown gear. It wrapped around the tail, stopped it, and the metal gears tore up the plastic ones.

Ive gotten parts recently from Tower, just takes a bit of searching on their site to find what you want. Not very well laid out in my opinion. Be wary of buying canopies from them too. I got 4, 2 stock and 2 fibreglass. 1 stock had a crease in it and 1 fibre had broken at its seam and the carbon windshield was no longer attached. Packing was fantastic and box was unscathed, so I can only assume that these things were damaged before packing.
As for blades, Tower has both the stock and Century carbon blades.
For the same money as the century carbons you can get some very nice KOK Extreme carbons. I bought 2 sets from Modefo's. They are under the Hornet section and are not listed as KOK. Easy to spot though as they are 1/3 natural carbon with white paint out to the tip.
Check the MS Hornet section for posts regarding these.
Unlike all the other carbons (barring Century of course) the KOK actually have the correct chord width. Sab, MAH etc etc all are to skinny for the job and are specifically designed to suit the Hornet.
Long winded post, yes, but I hope its been a little bit of help too

If you bling it, they will come :D

Long winded, yes. Good info YES....thanks. So are the KOK blades the same chord width as the woodies and the century ones smaller? How does if effect the flight characteristics...faster climbouts, lower headspeed?

It seems like the crown gear stripped pretty easily. Should I just upgrade to the belt driven tail?

Honestly? Go the belt. I havent flown mine (attempted) for ages just because I hated the way the tail would always have some sort of problem.
I have a kit on order from CRB68.
The chord affects how efficiently your heli creates lift.
If the chord width is thinner than what the heli was designed for then the motor has to work harder to generate lost lift through smaller surface area.
The KOK blades are within 1mm of the stock Century woodies, not enough to make a measurable difference. However the other brands I mentioned are definately thinner, but offhand I cannot remember by how much. Ive heard disappointed people try the Sabs.
The only blades in my book that suit the Pro aside from the Century woodies, are the KOK and Century's own carbons which I think are Rotortech blades.
Smaller chord will have less lift and authority in the air, as well as making your motor/esc/battery work harder, as you need more headspeed to get the same as stock lift.
Hope this is making sense lol.
I have the smell of fresh spring rolls and chili sauce under my nose and its kinda distracting lol.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Hey Monterey.....

Try these guys for parts: http://www.fxaeromodels.com/
They stock all parts and hop-ups too! Their prices are pretty
consistantly cheaper than anybody else. Fast deliver also. (they're located in the Bay area).

I bought some stock blades and crown gears from them a couple of days ago....all in stock!

But like Gorn said....belted tail is the way to go!

I just ordered the belt kit. Now the hard part...waiting!! I've ordered parts from FXAero before for my Logo, I didn't know they had HB parts too. Thx.

Today would be a great day to fly...clear skies, low wind. Time to put my Blade CP back together since the last crash so I can get some flight time in! The 3D pro is soooo much smoother than the blade...I'm hooked!
