Is it acceptable to use 3 new futaba 3001 servos on the EMS for the first stages of flight (lerning to hover ect). If its not is it OK to use the same servos using the MMS seting.
I will apritiate any help.

Yes you can use them but do not expect them to last very long. Once you get into forward flight you may notice some interactions and failure to return to center.

Hello,

my second caliber 30 use futaba 3001 too (in EMS) and I use to learn flying with a raptor 30 (mechanical mixing) more than a year without any problem too. Do not buy better servo but please only use a HHold gyro and a good tail servo, it helps a lot !!!

In the 2nd issue of R/C Technique Magazine (Japanese Magazine) they showed both machenical and EMS Caliber 30's using Futaba S3001 servos. I can't read Japanese so I don't understand their review but it seems sufficient to me to use these servos.

I used S148's in my Nexus and I really thrashed that heli. The servos outlasted the heli

I too thrashed a nexus to death (it took 2 1/2 years). I also have flown many a 30 class heli with old worn Std. servo's. I'm sorry but the forces of nature acting upon a whirly gig beating the air into submission can only bennifit from good servo's. Std. servo's may work for years but the amount of free play, the lack of centering and return to center force they suffer after 25 to 50 non 3d flights on a well set up 30 make them less than desirable for heli use. This is MHO.

Thanks for the help guys

I think I'll use the 3001 for the start and see how it works. I hope I'll keep the heli long enogth in one piece - for the servo upgrade.:p

Have a nice day :)
