e-Align T-REX 250-450-500-600 > IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT

So far, this is what I plan on getting:

TREX 450 SE
HACKER A20 6XL
THUNDERPOWER 2100 mAh 3C 11.1 V
17T PINION
QUARK 33 (white wires)
FUTABA 401
HS-65 (x3)
HS-9650
SAB MAIN BLADES

The question is - what would you change or add - and most importantly, WHY?

Money's no object? Then swap out:

Jazz for the Quark, HS65MGs for the 65s, and NEU 1107-2Y for the Hacker, and go 4S instead of 3S.

Jazz over Quark for the trouble-free and easy operation, and ease of use in a 4S setup.

MG servos because they're tougher in a crash.

The NEU because it's a proven motor in a high performance setup, where the new Hacker is still a bit of an unknown in what it does to batteries and speed controllers with that 17t pinion.

Finally, 4S gives the performance you obviously are seeking without taking shortcuts, where the Hacker setup with a 3S simulates that kind of performance at unknown cost.

I think it is called gorilla gear. It is the landing gear that flexes without breaking.
Why? For the landings that come in harder than you wanted them to.

Maybe a deans antenna.
Why? To cut down on all that wire that hangs out.

A second SE.
Why? To keep on flying after you've crashed

And I agree with the above posts, (cept maybe the 3dmpe thing )
Jazz for Governer and smooth spool up.
4S for insane power and decent flight times.
Rotorworks G4 because I want it (if $ was no object)
And a Lepton EX for back up heli (for the same reason as above )

go with the jazz, gorilla gear, neu 1107/2y. you can use this motor with both 3s and 4s by changing the pinion. i built my 450xl cde with the jazz, neu,401w/9650. then gorilla gear after mine cracked on a hard landing. i would also add a pcm rx to get rid of glitches. i used the futaba mini pcm rx. my t-rex is so stable it hovers like my 50 size nitro. and never had the slightest problem so far. the jazz slow start and gov works great, set your pitch curve to a straight line 85 85 85 etc and let the jazz do its job. the last thing the jazz and the neu never get hot and i get 10 min flight time.

The 8103 works fine....there are nicer ones, but upgrading isn't a necessity.

JR 8103 is a great radio. A friend of mine uses one, it pretty much matches my Futaba 9C.

If you're online, you're not flying.

OK, what would you change or add, for sport flying (precision circuits, figure 8's)no 3D flying.

And, don't forget... WHY?

NEXT: If you already had a TREX 450 XL new in the box, and a Rotorworkz G3 CF frame... would you build it? (get all the metal head and tail upgrades) - or sell it and get the SE

If you're not flying 3D, then I'd stick with the XL stock. The Align ESC and motor will serve you quite well.

But get the Gorilla Gear regardless. It will save you from broken landing gear from rough landings.

If money were no object you should switch out the Quark for a better esc like the Kontronik Jazz 40-6-18, why??- It is better and will also allow you into the 4S game without a seperate bec needed.

If money were no object, I'd wait until July and go for the Hirobo Lepton.

I think I'd take the 9303 over the 10X. The 9303 matches the 10X almost feature to feature, with the exception of a few, most notably a touchscreen. And it does all of those things for significantly less money, and has a larger number of model memories, 10 for the 10X and 30 for the 9303.

I have been told that the gimbals in the 10X feel a lot nicer with their ball bearing support, but the 10X is getting up there in years, and is going to be supplanted sometime in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future with whatever the next JR gee-whiz model will be.

I suppose if money was no object, you could just slide over to the Futaba side and get a 14MZ, but then the whole Futaba VS. JR fight starts, and who needs that here?
