| Hi there flycatch. Actually I have scoured the Mcmaster site several times now. I'm not sure what you mean by "ISO", but I have checked every single vibration isolator I could find on their site, and couldn't find the one I need. Granted, there are plenty of mounts there, just not what I need. You cant just throw any old mount on there and expect to get rid of all vibes. You have to get the one or ones that are tuned to your particular application. That includes the weight of the object to be isolated, the Forcing frequency, size, mounting type and other considerations. In my case, I need to isolate a camera mount and camera with a total static weight between 2 and 3.4 pounds, with a Forcing freq of about 23.3Hz and resonant freq of 13.4Hz. The only mount that I have been able to find that does the job with 80% isolation or better and fits the mount is the "Lord 106PDL-4" or equivalent. The only place I have seen that I can buy that model# is through one of Lord's authorized distibutors, and they ALL have a $50.00 minimum order. If you know of ANY other source I can get these from, I would be extremely greatful. If you could be so kind as to elaborate on the one you are referring to, I will investigate. Meanwhile I am waiting on a call back from one of the sales reps from the distributor for my region in hopes that I can get a sample or two from them. Of all the aspects of designing my own camera gimbal/mount, I never thought that buying the parts I need would be the hardest.
PS: Thanks for the input though. |
