UAV Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles > Where to buy LORD mounts in small quantities?

I am trying to buy some 106PDL-4 mounts for my camera gimbal and the only didtributors I have found, will only allow a $50.00 minimum order.

Does anybody know where to buy these in small quantities without such a high minimum?

well, if you can use the square version instead of diamond,
it *appears* as though mcmaster has them........

Well those are close, but not exactly what I need though. I might give them a try if I can't find any other alternatives. Thanks for the info there Z. Much appreciated.

Lord Mounts

Contact McMaster Carr the leading vendor in all thats' hardware. They have an on-line website. The mount is called an ISO. McMaster sells the mounts in packs of ten or how many you need.

Hi there flycatch. Actually I have scoured the Mcmaster site several times now. I'm not sure what you mean by "ISO", but I have checked every single vibration isolator I could find on their site, and couldn't find the one I need. Granted, there are plenty of mounts there, just not what I need. You cant just throw any old mount on there and expect to get rid of all vibes. You have to get the one or ones that are tuned to your particular application. That includes the weight of the object to be isolated, the Forcing frequency, size, mounting type and other considerations. In my case, I need to isolate a camera mount and camera with a total static weight between 2 and 3.4 pounds, with a Forcing freq of about 23.3Hz and resonant freq of 13.4Hz. The only mount that I have been able to find that does the job with 80% isolation or better and fits the mount is the "Lord 106PDL-4" or equivalent. The only place I have seen that I can buy that model# is through one of Lord's authorized distibutors, and they ALL have a $50.00 minimum order. If you know of ANY other source I can get these from, I would be extremely greatful. If you could be so kind as to elaborate on the one you are referring to, I will investigate. Meanwhile I am waiting on a call back from one of the sales reps from the distributor for my region in hopes that I can get a sample or two from them. Of all the aspects of designing my own camera gimbal/mount, I never thought that buying the parts I need would be the hardest.

PS: Thanks for the input though.

I am looking at picking up some of these LORD mounts in the future so I can design my own camera mounts.

Would people be interested in purchasing the mounts from me? I don't want to charge a ton, maybe make a few cents on each order once the shipping is all paid for. Just wondering because I would be glad to help people get the quantity of these things they need at a reasonable cost.

I might be interested in that "buy-in". My local distributor told me he would send a couple of samples, but I haven't seen em yet. Based on what I learn with the samples, I may need one or two other types to try. I could be in for as many as six or eight units, total. I havent had time to investigate the other suggestions posted here because of some other priorities, but I hope to get to it soon.

No idea if she is still working there and/or if they still sell the lord mounts but at least here you have another starting point.

Elossam, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I can't buy from them. Lord has very strict policies regarding district sales zones. SB won't sell/ship to me since I'm in the Northeastern zone that's covered by another distributor. Also, I think they have the $50.00 minimum order now as well.

The good news is that I did get a couple free samples from my distributor. I just have to get time to test them out. I still think I will end up buying some more though. If these work, I may build another mount as a backup. If they don't, well I will need different ones anyway. Plus I'm trying different configurations with a different number of Lord mounts per application. As few as one, and as many as four. Who knows what I'll end up with.

Count me in...

I'd be interested in purchasing several of those Lords mounts. Do you know if they are designed for sheer/vertical vs. horizontal applications??
