Most have been happy with the Twister/Axi style outrunner MS-116 combo (8-12 Amps max, 120w) on 3 good cells (11.1v) but a few of us are thinking about something with that little extra top end punch.
Have a look at the HB 3D Pro forum, who seem to be recommending the 46g 20A JGF 400DF 3000Kv 15T/140T (2.3mm or 3mm shaft) for 2500 rpm at 80% gov. Some use the 56g Align 400SF 2800Kv.
I am very much guessing here but estimate:
Hornet 400DH/450TH 18T/180T 3000 RPM (motor 30000 rpm) max pull ~17 Amps 3S pack, ~400g (may be use a 20T 9:1?)
Some one need to buy one and find the optimum setup... get a bunch 64 pitch pinions which are mostly available in 3.17mm 16T to 28T (450TH only????)

I believe it is due to a combination of factors. Head damping is normally too soft, fit larger stiffer O-rings or pack the centre with tape layers. Depends on blade weight and rpm, I think that the original CFs are not weighted and can more easily be deflected into the boom, particularly is head speed drops too low (2200 rpm maybe), coupled with weak head damping may cause the problem. KoK 255 mm white blades rock but they are expensive.
The tail hub attachment to the short tail shaft can be a problem area for slippage or detachment in flight..

...installing a one way main gear bearing (if you haven't got one already and don't know which one fits what shaft design). One of the biggest bugs of the H2 is if you crash without a 'one way', even if you manage to hit the throttle cut switch, the stored momentum in the main rotor is still able to turn your tail at 4:1 ratio and trash the tail drive system. Little issues like that gave the old H2 a poor reputation for tail maintenance and increased the tinker time over actual air time. Happy to say the X-3D is much improved as a result.
