The 3d pro tail grips comes put together. Just tighten the grub screw on the tail shaft. It's really a nice piece for 40 bux.

Just mailed helitech and it's possible to use the microheli tail case. Only need to drill out the bearing holder in the case so the belt fit through.

I just used the original (grey) trex tail blades as they are a 100 times better than stock and are cheap. Now though align have redesigned the tail grips slightly making them useless (black ones).

Yes the MH tail box is sweeeet looking and as said does work with the belt drive which i cant recommend enough, and his landing gear is nice and strong too.

HS-50's

Too all that think about using this servo for tail control of the 3D Pro (or other collective pitch tail system):

I too thought that the HS-50 would be a premier servo for the speed it possesses, but I have found out through much trial and error that the little HS-50 just does not have the power necessary to drive the Hummingbird's tail through it's full range.

If you are using an HS-50 for the tail control, please check your aircraft, and if you are not having any problems getting this servo to work the full pitch range, please advise as I may have a few servos that are faulty.

Low speed checks do not prove to cause any issues for full pitch control, but operating RPM stalls this servo almost immediately.

hs-50 has many issues being run on the tail. lack of torque pretty high on the list. it causes the servo to burn out prematurely.

also of concern is its snap-together design. better glue or strap that thing together if you choose to use it on the tail....or watch it fly apart in flight eventually.

if it ain't broke…break it.

I put hs 65's on my 3dpros and love them. A few bucks more but on the tail its worth it.

Oddly enough I am using s75's on the cyclic on one of my birds and am happy with them. Haven't thrashed them enough to really rate them, but flight wise, I'd say fresh ones are better than the hs50's I'm using on the other one.

Im getting 7 min flight time with the 3d pro and 1320mah TP packs. I have both a belt drive and gear drive versions running a 11t pinion. My belt drive has a 401 with a futaba 3154 servo for the tail and it holds like a champ. All cnc setups with the uH tail pitch slider and case on both. I Usually put only 1100 back into the packs when charging back up.

Pic of the gear version one.
