Just got hold of the new Hacker C40-10S brushless motor and Shultz 45He as a 'late' Chrimble present for my Kyosho EP SR heli.

Straight into the workshop and into the helicopter - out with that old brushed setup (it gave a good service, but was showing its age a bit). Installation was simple with the motor having the same hole position as the original and the shaft diameter the same also but there wasn't much choice for the location of the ESC as the wires were quite short to the motor and the instructions said to leave them that way.
All setup and bench tested, it was time to give it a whirl - in my living room as it's dark outside and I can't wait till the weekend.
The motor worked, spooling up nicely without setting anything different and there seemed to be plenty of power - couldn't really do a lot inside though. Then I tried the Speed Regulator mode which involved putting a straight line across the IdleUp1 and IdleUp2 throttle 'curves' - I started at 50% and the motor 'soft started' to reach that setting where it stayed no matter what pitch I introduced, great - my first Govenor! It wasn't enough head speed to lift off, but I gradually increased it till I got to 75% which gave enough to lift into a comfortable hover. I set IdleUp2 to 85% but daren't try that in the confined space I was in.
Can't wait till the weekend now so I can fly one of my favourite models - I fitted the Hughes500 body kit to it early last year which 'finished it off' nicely I thought (I learned to fly a heli on this model as a pod & boom setup) as it was never that good at aerobatics anyway.

Will try to get some pics if someone turns up with a digi camera

Cheers
Richard.
