Hey I was just brain storming and had an idea.

What if you had an Observer with an underslung mount, so that you had two cameras with you in the air?

You could have two video cameras; one up front under control of your cam operator, and one on the underslung mount locked in a static shot in the direction of your choice.

Or you could have two operators, each one taking different angles from the same flight. Or two different kinds of cameras. Like one for video, and one taking stills.

Only question is power. I've hefted an observer before and it's pretty heavy. Anyone know if it would have the power to lift this much stuff?

Anyone ever done this, or thought of doing it before?

The auto might be interesting huh Gary?
My Observer packs itself around like its nothing. Im sure the weight would be a strain on the gears and clutch though.

Ben

What is your Observer weighing in at in its current configuration? If it flys around like it was nothing, Brady probably could set up a second rig if he kept the package on the light side, huh?
I did see a heavy lift site somewhere and they had an Intrepid (don't remember it being an EB) that was hefting 17lb payload! They kept it in highhover somewhat close to the ground. Probably worried that it might auto like a rock.

I think my Observer weighs 16lbs but to tell you the truth I can't be sure. I used a bathroom scale to weigh it. I did auto this thing involuntarily due to bad pilot preflight condition and it couldnt have been easier. Although the adrenaline was pumpin.
Ill weigh it tonight and post it.
