All you doom and gloomers out there need to give it up. With your attitude, why do anything? Why even bother with R & D. When the original TRex came in, Shogun was the dominating force. The TRex basically created the market with their evergrowing quest for excellence. Some people look at multiple revision as a weakness, but I see it as a strength. It means that they're listening to complaints / concerns, and are addressing it. You can't do R&D all the time and at some point you have to go "live." Some things just won't be known until there is a big enough quantity that the problems at the end of the bell curve becomes more transparent. In the pharmaceutical industry, that's the phase 3 trials.

I think the Trex600 will be a big hit myself. It reminds me of the what ipod did for mp3s. There were other mp3 players before the ipod but because the ipod was cool looking and easy to use it took off. I think the Trex600 is like the ipod because it is awesome looking and will be easy to work on.

The problem is not the size or the big step , the problem is $$$$$$$$$$$$ expensive batteries that maybe destroy in a crash and other charger
I feel thats the problem

If you dont need 6-7 battery packs then the price is not going to be that big a deal. For me two packs would be enough for now until battery prices come down. I usually take 2-3 helis with me to the field. I have two packs for my trex and fly it twice and then 5-6 flights with my nitro helis. I think for guys like me that would not use the Trex600 as their primary bird and need a bunch of packs it would be fine on cost.

I find that with 2-3 packs I can fly as much as I want if I bring along a field charger. With the new TP charger + ballancer, you can fully charge them in 20 min at 3C. Then, there's also the emolis, which has taken the large electric arean by storm.

I think the Trex 450 is a cashcow for Align. If they don't sell as much TRex 600 as expected in the beginning it doesn't kill them.

If you want a lipo that will handle the average flyer's stick banging and last from 8-10mins, you will need to put in a 10S2P 4200 which is $550 currently on the market.
After yesterday's demos, it is appears that the TP PL 6s2p 4200 is going to be fine for basic forward flight. These guys are working them pretty hard, but the packs are only good for 3-1/2 to 4 minutes.
Keep in mind that with the recommended 6S2P 4200 TP PL you will get 3-4 mins of flight time providing you have the collective management that the Szabo's have. That is the timed flights they are getting on the average you see in the videos.
Anyways, I'm hearing that the frame width will be increased to accomodate other manufacturer's motors and larger battery packs. I think that is a great move by Align.
I believe the Rex600 will be a great competitor for the Logo 14 and possibly for the e-Raptor 50. Less expensive, but with some unique features, like the push-pull bell cranks, that will help set it apart.
A little dremeling and then strap the real lipo's on.. then you're set!
... But honey it was only $$$

Could this be because in reality very few people are interested in a 50 size electric? I dont want to start a nitro v's electric argument but the pro's and con's are clear to everyone. There are already larger electric heli's out there, they just have never become popular!
If you look back on the small electric heli market before Align the small helis was not selling that well ether. I believe the price and the helis would not stay together was the reason. Align has changed that for us. I think Align will be good for this 50 size electric market.
Align will do to the 50 size electric that Ace did for the Raptor 50 gas market.
Why are we complaining that a company is willing to step up and change that for us or try to change it for us.

If I can fit a 5S e-moli pack on each side of the Rex running on an A50, then we're talking a very affordable 50-size viable alternative to the other conversions out there.

I read about seeing the videos and I would like to see them to judge for my self. I was there and help Danny put the A50 motor and 2 lipos on the Trex 600 as you can see in the photo you keep showing here. I am the one with the maroon jacket.
I did not see a different's in the flight except for the climb out inverted. So lets see the video.

I'm sure the T600 will sell, but no where near as many as the Rex450.
it is a nitch market....
There are lots of choppers that fall between EP Speed 400 and .30 nito size. Ever hear of...
ECO 8
Logo
Miniature Aircraft
Quick
Stinger
Swift
Viper
JR Voyager
Lepton
Can anyone tell me the reason none of these have the following of the T-Rex450?
My Guess...
Cost to get them airborn and repairs parts are a majopr reason.
when compared to the T-Rex450.
Align would have been better if they marketed to the current crowd of T_rex 450 flyers.
Would have made more sense to make a chopper that could use
Two 3S 2100mah packs to fly.
I have a bunch of 3S 2100mah packs for my current T_Rex, I am sure most people due.
Now wouldn't it be nice if you can get a new LARGER chopper and fly them with your current lipos in Series or Parallel.
That way many of the current T-Rex pilots would have been able to use there current lipos for the new choppers, this is the main reason people are shunning the New T600, Lipo cost and running gear cost.
-= I know there is Money in RC helicopters. I put it there=-
I can't wait to look at this thread one and two years from now. My prediction is that the battery problem will be a non-issue at that point. Build a field, they will come to play...

This reminds me of one of my fears. First of all, I think you're right, and I think that's good. I just fear that, as electrics get bigger and badder, eventually people will stop looking the other way. These days we can fly most anywhere because electrics are harmless - right?
Some sites may institute power or weight limits; others might take the easier approach - no more flying
