Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Belt or shaft drive for Avant?

I am thinking of building an Avant EFX from an Evo 90 kit. I have no problem with the belt drive tail. What is the best or most popular setup? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

build it as per the instructions...lol, set up really depends on how you fly.

belt is VASTLY more popular.

tube is marginally better for aerobatic autos but $$$$$$$$$$$$ to buy and
in the event of a crash.

I love belt drive, it is build & forget! Plus it is bullet proof.

The Aurora uses the most rugged torque tube system. The generously sized gears are designed to take about 9 times the actual forces while in flight so that the pilot can use and abuse the system without the usual concerns of the typical torque tube systems.
A 4.9 tail to main ratio makes it a very nice system with all the tail authority you'll ever need. The torque tube Gear Layout is the same design as the tried and true proven system used by the Hirobo Eagle line of helis. This also allows to accomodate for a future belt system.

Interesting to see a belt system may be on offer in the future. Its my preferance as well. Simple, cheap, and I doubt if it would make any differance to my flying that I would notice.

heliman, what can break in fast piros? just curious.
I love belts, i know tube is better in some ways, but i really cant feel the difference as am not the best or half of the best 3d pilot out there.. lol, but belt is cheaper and i've love to go belt on the Aurora when i get one ofcourse

It can snap in very fast piro there is alot of stress on the belt if the tail is actually being slowed down by the head. I although prefer belt anyways im just saying.

piros

It is not the piros, but the stopping of the piros. You can tear up a machine in a hurry doing blinding piros and stopping quickly. I run delay in my gyro to soften the stop a bit. It saves the heli in the long run, either belt or gears.
