Hey , well there will be a product coming out this year , that Ralf at Mikado will be introducing , he name for it is VBar , virtural flybar , it is 2 Non HH gyros for the swash. this little device, will simulate the flybar reactions down to a tee + alot more , it could be used with scale or flat out a rocking 3D machine ,"Ulrich" http://www.vstabi.de/, (I bought mine from http://www.rs-heli.com/) 550 for the 2 axis from Ron and I think its well worth it ,
this past winter I installed a VStab on my MA Ion , yesterday I finally had the chance to fly it , dang long winter here in Alaska , but all I could say was DAM! compared to my other 2 Ions with flybars , the reaction in right NOW , roll rate is the same on stock setting as my others , but it just feels like its a tighter machine and very precise, and if I want faster rate just change the simulated weight # on the computer and plug in the heli , then unplug it and try it out , it also has a neat feature for FF and a ballooning effect , airtubed on the for and aft of the swash to eliminate this effect ,
there will be 2 types , 2 axis , are just for the swash and you use your own tail gyro , 3 axis and you dont need a tail gyro , from what Andy Rummer tells me , it has a better consistant tail rate than the 601 , you use the 9251 servo for it ,
from 1 to 10 , I rate this little devise as a 12 ,
you can use this with any heli , you just need to mod the head and do away with the flybar , and add a little devise to keep the swash inline with the head so your 2 rods going to the blades grips dont get out of sink, picture of that in my galler too

I'm thinking that something like this will revolutionize RC helis. The flybar is just a mechanical gyro and it's only a matter of time before someone comes up with an electronic one that's better, much like the piezo gyros have taken over the t/r gyro market. I think before it really catches on someone like TT or MA will have to make a complete package with the gyro unit, flybarless head, and correct linkage rates. It's just a bit much for the average guy to spend $500.00 or whatever it costs for the unit, then have to modify the head, and come up with the right linkage ratios to make it all work. I also can't figure out why you all are using non HH gyros, then try to compensate by using some type of speed sensor? Why not just use HH in the first place? The speed sensor will never get it right in every attitude and direction of flight. You want the cyclic controls to hold the heli in whatever orientation you command, same as you want the t/r to stay wherever you put it. HH should work just as well here as it does on the tail. Thanks. steve.

hey , well I dont know about the HH on how it would work , but the non HHs go back to center , maybe there will be one in the future , but I dont see the need for it in my Ion as the way it flys , its just like the flybar but more crisp and snappy , action is there , I will get a video next week and post it on here , there is ganna be a kit version with the Logo helis , you can get it with or without the VBar , with the VBar you wil get the head for the VStabi , about the airtubes , it works great as you go faster it slowly drops the the swash downwards , this is set to your likings , Andy Rummers type of flying , he dont use this feature because he dont fly in FF alot ,

Tony, do you know if Mikado will do an Vbar upgrade kit for L10 or 14? I guess that would be a kit with the vbar and the parts you need to rebuild the head.

Is the airtubes included in both vbar kits?

Thanks, it looks very cool! I'll probably have to get one of those kits... do you know when they will hit the marked?

I tried using 2xGY601 on a Raptor90 modified to be flybarless 2 years ago (yeah, that's 3 GY601 in total). The huge vibration simply drift the integral gyro away and it is problematic to start integral mode (or heading lock mode) before taking off.
Carefully placing the sensors and isolation of vibration could yield a satisfactory result similar to one with flybar. The best thing is that you dont have to trim the elevator channel with your big tank full/empty. However it took a bit time to get used to it, just like the first time you're introduced to a heading lock gyro.

I will try to have a video of my Ion this week , if not , then maybe one will pop out at chattanooga Tn on the 26 through 28th , and I will also try to hit MD event too, I also have a 3 axis VBar coming , IRCHA , thats when Ralf sid I could get me one for my logo 10 3D .

well worth its weight in gold , and I like hard 3D , the most videos I watch is HC and his buddy Markus ,

I have been using a Helitronix mixer and 2 gyros
on my multi blade scale ship for years. Most multi
blade scale fliers use a system like this.

And you don't want HH on. Many have tried it.

Wow... cool

So it not possible to fly the flybarless head without this computerize board? In the 3D video that Andy Fly his flybarless Logo, did he use the V-bar? or was it just regular ccpm, and the mod on the head?

thanks

If i got $, I will run my T-rex on 10s lithium.

Doesn't the flybar provide the mechanical force to pitch the blades? Where does this power come from if you replace it thus? Stronger servos?
